Highly recommend
Dr. Martens is an excellent Rheumatologist. Very kind, good bedside manner. For once in 3 years suffering from Fibromyalgia Dr. Martens was very thorough and took my concerns seriously. Finally I found a MD that understands my condition. I feel very fortunate my PCP recommended him. Highly recommend if you prefer a patient and caring MD that doesn’t rush appointments and seems to really care.

After over 10 years of being a patient of Dr. Martens, I’ve decided to sever ties with him. Unfortunately, I fell into his care (because a psychiatrist was unavailable) when I was battling some anxiety and he over prescribed an antidepressant, without doing any screening, formal diagnosis, or warning about the serious risks to taking the drug. Prior to taking Paxil, I had no diagnosis of bipolar disorder but now I do at least partially due to the fact that the Paxil triggered a hypomanic or manic episode. This problem is not unique to Dr. M. This is common amongst PCPs who have limited knowledge about the patient’s actual condition and therefore they misdiagnose and overprescribe. Additionally, they’ve been told by pharma reps that these drugs are harmless and that couldn’t be further from the truth. For physical ailments PCPs are fine, but they can’t be trusted when it comes to psychogenic drugs. Only get mental health drugs from a psychiatrist or nurse practitioner.
