Stay Away!
It was the most unpleasant doctor's visit I've ever had. Unprofessional conduct, and insensitive to concerns. I felt absolutely uncomfortable and disrespected. He just gave me expensive tests to do at home that were not covered by insurance and did not inform me. If I hadn't done research online I would be in hundreds of dollars in debt now. I didn't do all the tests after I figured it out, and just went to a much better doctor, who diagnosed me correctly, and my insurance covered it all. I just want to inform others who are considering seeing him to know this so they can avoid the trouble. It felt like he served the pharmaceutical industry more than his patients. I would not recommend him to anyone, friend or foe, please stay away from this doctor for your own sake!

I would absolutely recommend Dr. Heit!
I loved Dr. Heit. Everyone at the surgical center was knowledgeable, helpful, and kind. He is a jokester which I have read some comments that people don't appreciate that, but I find it comforting that he shows a human side and is trying to make light of a slightly embarrassing procedure. I wouldn't go anywhere else. Thank you to Dr. Heit and the entire Ridgedale Surgery Center staff!

Unprofessional
I had scheduled a colonoscopy with Dr. Heit on Nov. 13 2023. After the requisite prepping for a full 24 hours in advance and showing up at the office for the procedure I was told that Dr. Heit had to cancel. I understand that things happen, but there was no notification prior to my arrival at the office, no offer to find some other resource in network that day to do the procedure, no offer of rescheduling whatsoever. Apparently Dr. Heit was ill, but when asked if it was sudden his admin said that it had been a couple days. So even worse, he could've have been preemptive out of an abundance of caution to notify patients prepping so there was awareness in advance. He may be a good doctor performing procedures, but there are many with the same skillset and his total lack of consideration is appalling.

He has been my family Doctor for at least 35 years. His knowledge is far beyond his specialty and we have consulted with him and he has provided us with the correct compass. Above all he is compassionate

He is an arrogant Jerk. I do not even know how he is considered a GI specialist. I saw him inpatient in the hospital and he was awful. He does not care about you and is rude. I will never allow him to see or treat me as I do not believe he is competent. I only gave one star because you can not give zero. I would never recommend him to anyone.

I had two colonoscopies five years apart with Dr. Heit. I had a consultation with him before both procedures. Before the first procedure, he introduced himself as the "butt doctor" which I didn't find to be very funny or appropriate. The nurses in surgery during the first procedure were making jokes about how I was going to get some good drugs and implied that I would enjoy the "high" which I also found inappropriate. I think he is competent and did his job well but I think he needs to work on his bedside manner.

Highly recommend - he listens to what you have to say; very thorough in analyzing and diagnosing. Answers questions and explains condition/diagnosis. Very good sense of humor and bedside manner. I have been checking in with him for almost 20 years. I feel very secure with his decisions.
