Complex consultation
Dr Dirksmier was on time, personable and quick to grasp my complicated recent health history. He let me describe rapidly and answered my questions. Then he directed me and explained images and previous neurologist notes. We discussed options, and I will start with a conservative plan for pain and weakness improvement. I would recommend Dr. Peter Dirksmeier to anyone seeking spine or hip assessment and treatment. Lorraine Murphy 7 23 2024

Knowing how precise and experience Dr. Dirksmeier is, I had complete trust in him. He is a the best Orthopedic/Spine surgeon. He is personable and completed caring of me, his patient. His team that he created is the best, also. The surgery he performed has changed my life to be fully functionable again.

Walking Without Pain!
Dr. Dirksmeier is a "matter-of-fact, tell it like it is" doctor. He is thorough, concise, uses modern techniques, explains what he's going to do, and is confident in his abilities. In my opinion is an excellent surgeon. I went from a year and a half of pain in both legs and limited walking, to having major surgery and can walk again without pain!!!

I can’t say enough about the wonderful experience I have had being treated by Dr. Peter Dirksmeier at Seacoast Orthopedics and Sports Medicine. I had been suffering for years from severe nerve pain down my legs and across my buttocks. It was getting progressively worse and was negatively impacting my quality of life. I am in my early 60’s and enjoy golf, hiking, riding my motorcycle and boating among other activities. All were impacted by my pain. Dr. Dirksmeier, after viewing my MRI, deducted he could help me by shaving bone to free up the nerves and then using that bone to fuse three levels to support my spine (between L4 and L5 my spine shifts 1 cm left). I woke up after surgery almost pain free, BUT the only pain was from the surgical site itself. Within a week I was at a ZERO on the pain scale, and still am at that level! It is amazing. I am 2/3 of the way through my three months wearing a back brace, and my quality of life is skyrocketing. I'm walking straight again!

Dr. Dirksmeier's surgical skills just changed my life. He performed a total left hip replacement and a spinal stimulator implant removal in the same surgery. He is attentive and skillful. I went to my follow-up visit yesterday and while I was sitting in the check-out waiting room with others the fact that I travel 2 hours one way to see him was questioned. The remark was "Wow! why do you travel so far to come HERE? Is he the best around?" Without missing a beat my response was "Yes. He is the best and every minute of my travel time is time well spent to see him." He is Dr. Tom Terrific in my book! If you're looking for a skilled and caring surgeon and are hesitant as to where to go - I just solved your problem. The answer is Dr. Peter Dirksmeier at Seacoast Orthopedics & Sports Medicine in Somersworth, NH.

Dr. Dirksmeier performed a Latocery on S4-5 on 1-15-20 and his team were outstanding in the operating room. He had explained the operation and I had watched videos. I was all set for a lot of pain, but to my surprise I had little if any pain. I was up and walking that night for a few steps , the next day I was walking fine with help from the nurses. I had a small fever so I stayed two extra days per doctors orders. I was made to do some exercises that are normal with no pain. I was just amazed that this operation wasn't giving me pain four days later. I give the credit to Dr. Dirksmeier. Just a wonderful surgreon and a very caring one too. I had heard good things about the doctor and he lived up to his reputation. I begin physical threopy tomorrow and looking forward to walking again with no pain as I have been suffering for two years. Thank you Dr. Dirksmeier

I am 68 . Had right hip replacement six weeks ago. I have been totally pain free! Didn't need any pain meds! I started back on my upper body work (pull-ups, chin-ups ,etc.) 2 days after surgery. I climb hills and stairs with little effort. Thank you Dr. Dirksmeier for giving me this new improved quality of life. Your a great surgeon.

I was referred to Dr. Dirksmeier by my Pain Specialist after suffering for a year and a half with lower back pain and horrific pain in my sciatica that traveled down my leg and into my foot . He Immediately performed an XRAY and I was diagnosed with Spinal stenosis. At that time I was unable to walk for more than 5-10 minutes and could not walk up or down stairs without assistance! Surgery was scheduled and a 5 hour surgery was performed (My diagnosis was severe.) I can HONESTLY say that I had almost immediate relief of my pain symptoms and 3 months later although I cannot yet...I feel like I could run a marathon!! Dr. Dirksmeier is Incredibly professional, kind, and took as much time needed to answer all of my questions. His Reputation definitely precedes him. I cannot praise him and his staff ENOUGH for their dedication to my care. I HIGHLY Recommend Dr. Dirksmeier!!

I had fusion performed by Dr. Dirksmeier 6 weeks ago to L5/S1 . I had heard such horror stories over the years relative to fusion that I suffered daily for years with agonizing nerve/leg pain. It finally got pretty much debilitating so I was left with a tough decision. Looking back at this point seems like one of the best decisions I've made in my first 48 years. He and his team Jason/Theresa have made it a huge success in my eyes. I've already started back to the gym on my own. He was amazing!!

I had pain in my arm, I did everything I could, shots, physical therapy, then I went to see Dr. Dirksmeier and he suggested surgery I was kind of afraid but I had to do something I was in pain all the time. So on Nov 26 2018 I had neck surgery, this is the best thing I have done. I have no more pain I am so glad I did it. Thank-you Deborah Downs

Dr Dirksmeier gave me my life back. After trying Physical Therapy and then Cortisone treatments that helped but never resolved the underlying problem, he counseled me that fusing my spine would likely resolve my pain. I decided to do it. Now that I am healed I realize I waited years too long to have it done. I was a climber and hiker before pain stopped me. I can now hike, walk and even climb again. Can't thank Dr. Dirksmeier enough.

Dr.Dirksmeier is a brilliant orthopedic surgeon. He improved my quality of life in a profound way. He corrected my spinal stenosis and now I can walk upright without leg pain and I don't have tingling and numbness in my lower legs which led to falling down. For the last several years I was becoming more of a recluse. I believed that I would soon live in a wheel chair. When Dr.Dirksmeier told me that he could help me I was overjoyed and today my symptoms are gone! Respectfully,! S.Burgess

Dr. Dirksmeier is a highly regarded & skilled surgeon. His manner is friendly, direct, & matter of fact. He takes as much time as necessary to help you understand your condition and to fully answer any questions. The only drawback is that he often runs way behind on his office appts. It once took well over two hours for a 15-min visit. But considering he was about to cut my back open, I consider that time well spent. He is very personable, and always gives me confidence. Great office staff, too.

Very direct, very informative. This doctor knows his field well and did an excellent job on my back surgery. I highly recommend him. He's very direct and blunt which is exactly what I like in a doctor. I don't want a doctor where I have to read between the lines to figure out what he said or draw my own conclusions as to what he meant.
