Seemed to have a set agenda and diagnosis before he even met me. Did not seem to want to listen. I never saw him again. Went to see the guys at Avala. They were great. Addressed my pain issues immediately, then aggressively worked to find the cause of my lower back issue. Which turned out not to be what Dr. Blessey had suggested.

Never again
Dr. Blesseydid my husband‘s hip six years ago, and now he is having to have it redone. We are using a different doctor, and this time the experience is completely different and a complete 180. Postop through Dr. Blessey was terrifying, but this time my husband is soaring with flying colors. We have zero confidence in Dr. Blessey.

Heed the Red flags
Have only one thing to say. In my opinion, if you can get an appointment with a doctor as a new patient, the next day at any time, take that as a red flag. Don't let desperation to be seen by a doctor take hold as you will be wasting your time and not get any answers anyway. If a doctor has alot of one star reviews, use that as a sign, and look elsewhere. The good doctors are booked. the bad ones are not. Lesson learned. Just saying..............

Dismissive and Abrupt visit.
I went in with joint pain and the feeling of joints separating, to which he kept responding "wow, that just sounds awful." He spent literally 5 minutes looking at an X-ray, saying he disagreed with the radiologist's findings, told me I didn't need surgery, and did no physical exam or evaluation of ROM on any of the affected joints. He wrote orders for physical therapy without even addressing what the underlying issue could be, then asked "what did you *want* me to say to you today" when I looked confounded. No recommendations for any pain relief therapies (ice, heat, NSAIDS - nothing). Absolutely disgraceful dismissal of a patient's concerns. Don't send your loved ones to this guy.

Our experience is this guy is a joke. I would not bring my worst enemy (if I had one!) to him. My wife went to him with a BROKEN wrist, and he told her it was just a sprain and "take something for pain." Did he think she was a druggie??! After almost 3 weeks of suffering, she went to another doctor who read the EXACT SAME x-rays, and he SHOWED her the obvious wrist fracture on the x-rays. The new doctor immediately immobilized her wrist and told her not to lift anything heavier than a coffee cup. Following his simple instruction, the pain subsided after 1 day! Literally! Ochsner should be ashamed to have Blessey on their staff. Don't bring anyone you care about to him... My wife suffered for weeks because of this "doctor. " The office is just a conveyor belt for fees, in my opinion.

The first time seeing this doctor and from the moment we were called into the office everything and everyone went downhill. This is a very short review justifying a very short visit consisting of not caring attitude by all staff seen. Dr. Blessey basically has lack of concern and basically care less attitude as did his staff. Will not return nor refer.

He was very dismissive of my symptoms, didn’t seem interested at all, and told me to look at the X-ray and see for myself that there was nothing wrong with me.

Not likely to recommend. I explained the pain in my hip and that it had been there for over a year. He took x-rays and diagnosed with arthritis. Did not offer follow up care, referral to PT, or any type of meds. Requested my primary care (who listens very well) to do an MRI. Results are I have a tear in the labum of the hip with cyst and bursitis. Now I will see a different orthopedic doctor. So thankful for my relationship with my PCP!

Dr Blessey is a good listener and a great doctor. Before meeting him I had pain night and day in my shoulder. I see him every 6 to 10 months and 2 days after the injection I am pain free. Now I can enjoy my family. Thank you

I was walking in 2014 but with considerable knee pain. Was advised hip surgery was needed. Hip surgery was done, twice in August 2014, (by this Dr.) both ops within 48 hrs of each other, again in June 2015 (2015 was complete hip revision by a different surgeon after a 2nd opinion was asked for) all on the same hip. It's now 2016 and I still cannot walk, lay flat without back pain, wheelchair & house bound, have financial hardship & low to no quality of life. Would you recommend this Dr.?
