Dr. Pedro Antonio Hermida de Viveiros, MD

I was extremely disappointed in my interactions with Dr. Viveiros. I have a rare soft tissue sarcoma & he seemed completely lost. I have seen 4 other medical oncologists around the country and each of them have had good guidance and insight into my situation. Dr Viveiros was incredibly indecisive & slow to act even when I told him what specialists at MSK or MD Anderson suggested for my situation. At one point he stopped my treatment & left me completely without treatment for AN ENTIRE MONTH while he decided what to do next allowing my aggressive cancer time to grow & spread. I kept messaging on MyChart asking what was next & offering advice from my other doctors -he'd say 'I'll get back to you.' I later find out he put me on 'quality of life' care & decided not to aggressively treat the cancer - WITHOUT CONSULTING ME! Even though I had other professionals suggesting solid treatment plans, which I shared with him. I found a better Med Oncologist at Rush and have been so happy.

Although all of the pertinent patient records had been made available, Dr. Viveiros had not reviewed any information prior to the appointment. Dr. Viveiros had no recommendations for an action plan and said that the case would be discussed at the weekly tumor board meeting. The patient's family followed up weekly (for months) to be apprised of the board discussion and no response was received. The patient had traveled 6 hours to see the doctor and received no information at the appointment and no follow up afterwards.
