Avoid Dr. Paula Knapp Baker, DO – A complete waste of time and moneyI had one of the worst medical experiences of my life with Dr. Paula Knapp Baker. I had been consistently receiving a specific prescription for 10 years and was referred to her by my pain management doctor to continue that treatment. I originally scheduled my appointment for December 20, 2024, but she canceled and rescheduled me FOUR MONTHS out to April 8, 2025. I waited patiently, thinking this doctor would be professional and competent.When I finally saw her, she dismissed my history and the referral, and refused to prescribe the medication I had been on for a decade—without offering any valid medical reasoning or alternatives. After wasting six months of waiting with real symptoms and a referral in hand, she refused to help me.To make matters worse, I asked for a refund, since I was given zero medical assistance, and she still charged me for the appointment. No compassion, doesn’t take initiative, not professional.My sister is paraplegic and has been under Dr Bakers care for over two years. Because of her paralysis she has frequent hospital visits due to bed sores. Dr Baker enters her room, doesn’t ask how she’s doing, she tells her she needs to go home. Meanwhile my sister is septic, almost alway has a UTI and so very sick and feverish. She lives alone and is very independent but has a lot of needs that Dr Baker takes zero interest in (colostomy, ileostomy, frequent bed, sores). Dr. Baker has never written her an order or discussed a mammogram or a pelvic exam. We have been trying to get paperwork signed for Area On Aging since last November and her office has still not filled it out and sent it back. This would give our family respite care and help my sister around the house with things she struggles with. We have literally faxed over the paperwork 8 times. She is a horrible doctor & not a nice person. Only in it for the money, sad!

I have never felt rushed and Dr baker thoroughly listens and explains everything to me as well.

I’m so grateful to have had Dr. Knapp-Baker as my PCP for the last 3+ years. I feel Dr. Baker understands lifelong respiratory illnesses and is willing to help with them. Also, in early 2023, I had an accident and she was with me the whole way, seeing to it that I got what I needed through the ER, hospital and the Transitional Care Unit at the hospital. She smiles as she enters the exam room, listens, asks appropriate questions, and smiles as she says follow me on the way out of the exam room. She may have a medical student with her during an appointment, but this never detracts from her great care. I will continue with her for as long as I can. Thank you so much Dr. Baker for caring for me!

Had an appointment. Long wait that I walked out and rescheduled. Came to next appointment, same thing waited too long... I'm done. Want to rescheduled, no thank you.

She wants to be social and have friends. Not a doctor. Went over her with my issues and just had surgery from Moffitt Cancer. Never helped me!!!

We feel so fortunate to have Dr. Paula Knapp Baker as our PCP. She is an excellent and caring doctor whom always listens attentively to our concerns and makes us feel "at home." Her assistant, Bridget, is very professional and friendly. Dr. Baker's entire staff from check-in to check-out always make us feel welcome, return our calls promptly, and are very courteous. A+ to Dr. Baker and her entire staff!

My husband, my son and I ALL have seen Paula Baker. I left 3 reviews and each of my reviews was somehow lost and taken off public information. I gave her 1 star for each review. I left my name. I am never embarrassed to tell the truth. Each complaint did occur on my “5” visits. I fired her for my care. A gossipy nasty person who does try to imitate a patient, acts as if you have interrupted her day, not only reflects poor professionalism but dresses the part. I shouldn’t have to tell you…but, a denim skirt 6 inches above the knee is inappropriate for a woman your age and worn during clinical hours is insane!!! Freedom of speech shouldn’t be narrated to what you desire it to say. You had 3 patients in my family. I left the public 3 posted reviews, 1 star per review, and concurred with your Florida and Missouri reviews. They seem to follow you.

Not a 1st choice

I am very pleased with both Doctor Baker and her staff. She was quick to provide an appointment, medication and relief when needed for a painful infection. She treated my situation as an emergency and I am very grateful to her for that. I have found Dr. Baker and her staff to be friendly, prompt, and efficient. In addition to being at her clinic which by the way is very clean, I have also had the experience of a virtual appointment. I was pleased with both! I highly recommend her!

If I could give her negative stars, I would. The only good thing about her was her appointment setter and only because she could see the pain in my eyes whenever I finished talking to "Dr." Baker. All the reviews are absolutely right! Judgmental, rolls her eyes, doesn't listen to a word you say. She will give you smirk like you're lying to her about your symptoms. I have been on the same meds for close to ten years. Yes, I've been trying to ween off. But instead of doing that, she had me quite cold turkey causing me to have withdrawals- evening sending me to the ER from it and side effects. When I mentioned this to her, she rolled her eyes and said she's never heard of such side effects from that particular drug and refused to refill what I had been previously taken because "she didn't like that medicine". I lost 2 weeks of work and to this day, still don't feel the same. Absolutely awful! Please beware... there has to be a reason she stopped practicing in St. Louis

SHE IS NOW IN PALM HARBOR, FL AND I AGREE WITH EVERY REVIEW WRITTEN. DITTO. SHE IS CONDENSING, JUDGMENTAL AND HER STAFF HER ARE RUDE AND INPATIENT.

Dr. Baker has always treated me well when I come in for a visit. The biggest problem I have with her is she won't renew my prescriptions in any reasonable amount of time. I sometimes have to wait a week or more before she finally gets around to it.

Dr. Paula Baker is the absolute worse when it comes to bed side manner or a simple follow up of a test that she insisted upon. Her staff and her always blame not having the results in a timely manner on the facility you were tested at. She is very judgmental as well as rude. She is always in a rush and acts like she does not have time for you. she is too worried about explaining your condition to her student. The wait time is absolutely horrible. I do not recommend her to anyone for any reason.

Poor client care, disregard for client confidentiality.

Dr baker really made me feel shame in seeking medical attention for chronic pain. She wrote me off, laughing when I said that i had not been working out regularly due to pain. Had a nurse take 12 viles of blood without telling me what she would be testing for. Never called me. Had to call weeks later, and only got to speak to office staff who had no idea what my tests meant.

Dr. Baker's bedside manner leaves something to be desired. She brushed off some of my concerns with a 'joking' remark and is usually always late.

Dr. Baker is chronically late and overly sarcastic. I saw a medical student in her office more times than I actually saw her. When the front desk staff was rude, I decided I needed to find a new PC physician. I am disappointed I feel I need to change doctors.
