As a physician, I know a good physician when I see one. Many times, I do not offer the information that I'm a physician when I see someone new, because I want to see how they will act without knowing my profession. Even before he knew I was a physician, he treated me with respect and listened to what I had to say. This was even when I had minor GI issues that were somewhat stress-related. But when I had a non-stress related GI issue, with concerning symptoms, he continued to listen and take me seriously. He brought me in right away for testing and found the (non-stress related) issue. Even though I trusted him before that, I trust him even more now. Out of the five gastroenterologists I have seen, he is the best gastroenterologist I have ever seen.

I was VERY nervous about digestive problems I was having and the endo/colonoscopy I was facing. Dr. Shapiro and his entire staff were so informative and comforting I can't thank them enough! I was told by many friends to count on Dr. Shapiro. I confidently put myself in his hands. He is the best - the very best.

I had excellent new-patient visit with Dr. Shapiro. Highly recommended! I was referred by a urology medical assistant whose family goes to Shapiro. The doctor was friendly, professional, knowledgeable. He was late starting the visit, but he never rushed. He did an external GI exam, asked a lot of questions about my family GI history. When I said I will make a separate appointment to discuss another issue, he insisted I discuss that separate issue right then. Entire office staff was nice.

My experience has been quite positive. After my colonoscopy he prescribed another procedure to obtain better picture of a narrowed bile duct and referred me to a specialist. I feel he is very professional and thorough. He definitely explained more and has a much better manner than my previous gastroenterologist I would recommend him to a friend.

I have been a patient of Dr. Shapiro for over 15 years for routine colonoscopys. He was always professional, courteous and accurate. He was put to the test in the past month when I was experiencing concerning symptoms. He diagnosed me quickly with C-diff and intervened with my insurance for realistic pricing for the prescribed antibiotic. He spent time with me answering my questions and explaining C-diff. Also, Sonja was great in expediting test results and insurance authorization.
