Saw Dr Matz On An Urgent Visit.
I had the pleasure of seeing Dr Matz while going through a trigeminal neuralgia flare after tympanoplasty surgery. He us the only doctor in oregon that I have met, that truly understands thr disease. He was prompt to get me to the proper doctor for care. He immediately called other doctors to collaborate the best move. It's the only time in 15 years that any doctor has been this caring for trigeminal neuralgia. If you are unaware of Trigeminal Neuralgia. I suggest you research it. It's debilitatingly horrible.

He left an elderly family member of on a cocktail of opiates, sleeping pills, anti anxiety and anti depressants for more than 20 years. I only realized what was going on after an OD. His attitude on meds is hand them out and even when a patient comes in to enquire about reducing meds, he literally said, "if it isn't broke don't try to fix it. Seriously, this guy is a menace. DO NOT SEND YOUR ELDERLY FOLKS TO MATZ.

Agree with others. He is smart and knowledgable about disease processes, but proves it by arrogantly talking AT patients, rather than listening. Several visits left me in tears, but his competence kept me coming back, trusting his skill as a physician. As a nurse, I can handle a lot, but the amount of disrespect is inappropriate. After having enough and wanting to leave, I was crying in pain, he tells me I can find a new dr if I don't want to listen to his verbal abuse further. Not worth it...

He is very good about educating you on the body and health. However, I found he interrupts a lot when trying to have a conversation with him. He does most of the talking. I didn't feel very listened to or cared about as his patient.
