Dr. Paul Kim, MD

This doctor's office was terrible. I made an appointment with Dr. Kim for a second opinion for ongoing problems I have had since surgery with another doctor. I waited months for the appointment and never saw Dr. Kim. They had me see his PA and he never even came in the room. She seemed uninterested and prescribed a drug to deal with my nerve pain. When the pharmacy contacted her several times for more info, she never contacted them back. I called the office several times about this, with each call taking close to an hour of wait time and still no follow through. Every single person contacted in the office was rude from the initial appointment scheduling to the in-office receptionist. I got absolutely nothing from the appointment.

My surgery went well enough though after a couple years, pain still exists somewhat. He is an excellent surgeon with poor bedside manner. I saw him once for about 3 minutes after surgery and otherwise only saw his PA’s.

We are so impressed with Dr. Kim. He is very patient and direct when speaking to us

I am always seen at the scheduled time by Dr. Kim who makes sure I understand my health issues, the necessary treatments and the best course of action to address them. He explains things so that I know what the options are and what I can expect from the course of action being taken. I appreciate his professionalism and concerns for what's best for me.

Today I saw Dr Kim’s PA. She was knowledgeable and respectful of my situation. She gave me a few options and the information to make a decision about my back and the integrity of my spine. Thank you

The staff is very courteous and helpful and the doctors are all very knowledgeable and compassionately take the time to thoroughly assist patients.

Dr. Kim was great. He identified the problems with my spine after ordering an MRI. He explained to me what was wrong with my back and what procedure was best for me. I'm very appreciative to Dr. Kim and his staff during surgery. I'm over 5 weeks post-op and I'm feeling great.

Dr. Kim was extremely patient, knowledgable, kind, thorough, and he explains everything with great detail. His office staff are also top notch in the Escondido office. He is an excellent listener, and remembers amazing details of previous conversations.

Dr. Kim made an important surgery seem routine, which helped keep me calm. The surgery was performed at Palomar Medical Center in Escondido, and all of the staff was excellent. Dr. Kim is very good at explaining things and takes the time to answer questions. The surgery went very well and my recovery is going well too.

Each of the caregivers were amazing!

I had c4- c6 fused ACDF awhile back. If you need warm and fuzzies to feel okay, Dr Paul Kim may not be for you. If you want an amazing result with a guy who cares when it's important (in the surgery room) then this is your surgeon. Can't say a lot about his other locations, but his office girls in Escondido are some of the best I've seen in a doc's office. They are sweet, responsive, and caring. Office folks can be... difficult, so this is really saying something. Only small issue with neck surgery was the Recovery Room team at Palamar was pretty rude when you wake up and are confused and need to urinate. You have no privacy and they do not care... They would rather Cath you than close the curtain and give you a private moment to do your thing. Obviously, if they had cathed me this review would be much different.

So far everything has worked out as described to me prior to surgery.

I was very pleased with Dr Paul D. Kim’s knowledge, professionalism, and surgical skills with my recent minimally invasive lumbar fusion surgery. He was easy to be around, and explained the procedure with clear details. Dr Kim’s staff was friendly, happy, and helpful indicating his strong leadership skills. I would definitely recommend Dr Kim to family and friends.
