All I heard was how difficult a procedure this was going to be. For me this has not been the case. The nerve block they used was extremely effective, I felt very little pain ever. For the first several days especially I iced the shoulder probably 6-8 total hours a day. If you are thinking of getting an ice machine, do it, you should - period. I'm now 3 weeks out, have not used the sling since 12 days post surgery when I had my follow up with Dr. Favorito. I recommend him highly, my surgery and recovery has gone much better than others I've talked to who went to other surgeons. Also, ice, do the exercises, do what they tell you.

Rotator cuff repair and Dr. Favorito
One week into my rotator cuff repair and it has gone excellent. Surgery day was very efficient, friendly, and without any issues. I couldn't receive a nerve block so I was a bit worried about pain but, amazingly, two days later, I was off the prescribed pain meds. On the third day, I was off OTC pain relievers. So many people have been amazed by my recovery. I'm chalking it up to good work.

You deserve better
I sought help due to a failed repair of a massive subscap tear. While undoubtedly a skilled surgeon, his bedside manner is lacking, and more importantly, he won't admit to a poor outcome with one of his surgeries. Even after 1 year and inability to recover, help was not offered. His metrics or scorecard is ahead of your needs. Do you want a doc who'll be with you for the long haul or just a one-off hero with an enormous ego? For me, he was the latter, so no thumbs up here. Through no fault of his, nor mine, his repair failed sooner than later. He didn't acknowledge the pain, the deficit, the failure of a key test upon exam. At my 1 year visit he smugly said, “sorry you didn’t have a better outcome, come back and see us when there's something we can help you with”. Wait. What? What exactly would that be? I wouldn't wish this treatment on anyone. I now have a new Doc, had successful shoulder replacement, and well on my way to full recovery; I have a doc on my side I can trust.

Muscle wasting and nerve damage
Surgeon and staff VERY unprofessional and r acist.Made inappropriate jokes prior to surgery about being monkeys in a circus.Post surgery I was left with axillary nerve damage muscle wasting and a lifetime supply of nerve pills. When I asked how this this happened he simply said “this is the arm you’re stuck with”

Highest Recommendation
Dr. Favorito and his entire team are the best. I had a total arthroplasty and LHBT tenodesis of my right shoulder. Everything has gone great so far and the pain during recovery has been less than expected. Dr. Favorito is a highly skilled and experienced shoulder surgeon. Beyond that, he continues to research and work on new and better treatment options for shoulder issues. It says a lot to me (and about him) that he wants to get even better and provide better care for his patients even though he is already one of the best shoulder surgeons. Greater Cincinnati is lucky to have him and his team. I would recommend Dr. Favorito and his team without hesitation. - Andy Giannella
