Very good care but don't be late!
Dr. Babikian was polite and listened to everything I had to say. He was very thorough in reviewing my records and explained everything in easy to understand language. Also, I was late to my appointment and he didn't have to agree to see me but he did anyway, which is very rare. The most important thing to note is that if you are even 5 minutes late the office will cancel your appointment so don't bother showing up late. You are better off to just call to reschedule rather than drive all that way to not be seen.

Doesn't care, doesn't respond
My husband was referred to Mercy Ruan and Dr. Babikian was who got assigned to him. Doctor doesn't care about my husband or his diagnosis. Won't return calls even after events for 2-4 weeks. Anytime we call to report an event we get told they are short staffed as if it's our fault and made to feel ashamed for even attempting to call. DO NOT RECOMMEND RUAN OR DR. BABIKIAN!! EDIT:received reply to call or message patient care bc they are "very concerned" about my experience..total joke bc I already sent a message through their patient concerns option and the response received "We are sorry for your experience. Since we are not at the doctor's office we do not have access to the doctor's desk we request you to get in touch with the doctor's office for more details on this. In case of any issues with the account, please let us know so that we can help you to get this fixed. Thank you." I mean seriously if I could get a hold of the Dr's office I wouldn't have this issue. Mercy is horrible

Good Doc
I have been seeing Dr. Babikian for years. Most visits go well and I feel he has time to go over all my concerns. I don't know if it is because I am now an established patient, but I remember the visits used to be more brief. I have a seizure disorder and migraines, and he is always open to trying new therapies and medications when the ones I am on currently stop working. (Not to play into stereotypes but) I am a cis male, in my 40s and can usually assert myself if I feel I'm not being heard, but I could see how some may feel his strong personality may be too overbearing if they are more meek or not used to dealing with that in healthcare situations. Overall, I consider him a competent doctor. The staff could use some work. Once, I complained to Mercy directly about them. Most of the time they are nice, especially the doctor's nurses. They can just be slow returning phone calls.

No empathy for my daughter who is mentally disabled. Gave us 5 minutes to get her into his exam room. Then after 2 minutes, decided he would not see her. Very disappointed in his lack of compassion and understanding.

Run! He is ego centered Seems to think so highly of himself there is hardly any room for patients questions. Ive met a lot of doctors but none with more of a God complex. It was emotionally disturbing visit.

Was not interested in my symptoms at all. Made me a three month followup and his office refuses to se me earlier when my symptoms are not getting better. His nurse resonds after 4-5 days and simply states I will make a note of that. Worst care I have ever seen.

I have epilepsy and during the 4 years that I saw Dr. Babikian I was far from happy with my treatments. He refused to change my medications despite me having no control over my seizures while taking them. I always felt rushed through my appointments and that I wasn't being heard. As soon as I switched doctors and medication my seizures are completely in conttrol.

I wouldn't let you insurance change with him. Getting in touch with him is impossible if your prescription of topamax is about to run out.
