Almost killed me
After having a full term still born and then GI issues. I had stents placed in my common bile duct by him and then they CAUSED a blockage and he REFUSED to remove them, told me I was having phantom pains. Pardon me sir but I had an organ removed not a limb. Just save yourself and take the extra drive to San Diego.

Poor care & follow through
Treated family members. No allowed conversations with patient. He send you to a staff member to communicate his instructions and follow up. He shows up to perform procedure and little or no direct interaction with patients. Technically proficient but lacking in all other positives.

Stay away
I was scheduled for a colonoscopy and did the prep the night before. I was ready with the IV line and in the hospital bed with the gown and they told me that something had happened to the machine and i would be waiting 6-8 hours more maybe longer due to several patients scheduled before. I was starving and had horrible stomach cramps. I cancelled the procedure and the doctor didn’t even bother to come by and speak to me. I could hear him talking and carrying on with one of the nurses. Instead of wasting time talking about how things are at UCSD, you should speak to your patients when things go wrong. I guess he is too good to do that. Never again.

I wouldn’t recommend Dr. Lopez to anyone. He is NOT a caring, polite or compassionate doctor. He was rude, judgmental, and presumptuous during my visit. Dr. Lopez made SEVERAL derogatory comments that were unrelated to my current condition. This was extremely upsetting. I was scheduled for a colonoscopy by Dr. Oscar Lopez, but will be cancelling it and will not be returning to his office. I have decided to look for a professional and understanding GI doctor in El Centro or San Diego.

I liked the doctor. He's nice, and friendly, and takes his time to explain everything to you. What I didn't like is that, apparently, his office is part of Pioneer's hospital (it's across the street). I visited his office twice but I was charged a facility fee (about $500) for the second visit which was about 5 minutes. Beware that the hospital may (or may not - depends on if they feel like it) charge you a facility fee. Had I known about the fee, I would have gone to a different doctor.
