My wife had part of liver taken out from Omar bse.
Telehealth
Omar refuses blood work for my wife after we told him to do a culture . He had postponed her very first appointment after surgery and postponed it for an extended period week, meaning she was out of antibiotics and he because he only gave her 5 days worth on discharge date. Said he would see her in 4 days . Well we called him the staff said he was postponing her appointment for another week . No antibiotics. She’s out he knew this because. Because of his poor judgement she died from septic shock . Do not go to this man

Terrible discharge care
My dad had pancreatic surgery from which he developed a septic infection. He was discharged to rehab without antibiotics, then was re admitted because of the infection and discharged AGAIN without antibiotics and they knew he still had the infection. The Dr was rude and clearly needs to manage his residents better. My dad is still recovering from the surgery that was done in March 2024.

Excellent Physician
Dr. Barakat is a very caring, kind, compassionate physician. He will not perform surgery, or provide treatment, for any condition that would be life threatening. My deceased grandmother paid a visit to Dr. Barakat, for stomach issues. She had previously endured triple bypass and carotid artery surgery. Dr. Barakat did not see a need to perform stomach surgery unless it was an emergency situation. She did not have any major isssues, just as Dr. Barakat had advised, and she lived out the duration of her life, well into her 90's. Therefore, if you want excellent care, try Dr. Barakat. You will not be disappointed.

The doctor who saved my life
I was diagnosed with stomach c on April 16, 2019. My baby was just 1yrs old. When other surgeons wanted me to keep an aggressive c tumor in my stomach, do chemo than have surgery. That just didn’t sit right with me. I look for another surgeon, and that’s when I met Dr. Barackat. He reviewed all my medical records on my first visit, and said, “ I’m taking this thing out of you.” Oh, how i wanted to hug him when he said those words. On May 29th i had surgery to remove the tumor. I want to thank God first than my wonderful surgeon Dr. Barakat. His decision saved my life! My little baby didn’t have to bury her momma. She’s 4yrs old and will be turning 5yrs old soon! If you are looking for a surgeon I highly recommend him! There’s no doubt in mind if i had listened to those other surgeons i know I wouldn’t be here today. I can not thank Dr. Barakat enough for making the right decision, that saved MY LIFE!!!

In 2011 I was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. Dr. Barakat performed a very intricate and long surgical procedure called the Whipple. It is the only known surgical procedure in the treatment of this type of cancer. 5 years later I have had zero complications and remain cancer free. Dr. Barakat explained in detail what he was going to do and why he was going to do it. He was a very reassuring presence in an otherwise trying time in our lives. Would recommend him to anyone. Great Surgeon!
