No follow up post surgery!
I had surgery for my cancer a year ago. I was so grateful thinking I had a lovely care team based on how nice they were at the initial visit. The sutures were taped and I was asked to let the tape fall off naturally. This site where the tape was on for over 14 days got infected with pus. I called and they did NOT have me come in. On the ASSIGNED follow-up doc visit MONTHS LATER (post radiation), the doctor herself did not see me- no explanation given for where she was.. Only seen in a hurry by a nurse. I asked to see the doctor and NO effort was made to do that. They gave me the distinct feeling that the doc was avoiding me. I really wanted to have a positive experience and post a positive review. Being diagnosed with cancer is hard enough. But I havent been given even BASIC follow-up care. I do not recommend a doctor or system where all they want is to get you in for surgery. Then you’re sadly on your own!!

She went above and beyond for me around my mastectomy. Made sure I was talking to a therapist- contacted my PCP. Checked on me before surgery, the night after, the morning after. Told me she’d help me figure out if gastric bypass was right for me before reconstruction. She’s going to help me find a way to get reconstruction. (I’m in my early thirties.) I know she probably has dozens of patients, but she really made me feel like I had a superhero holding my hand through a terrifying process. I can’t even begin to explain how much that matters to me. I don’t think it’s crazy to say that she’ll always be in my heart for that.
