An angry person
I was sent to Sutter ER from Urgent Care. The ER was already a 9-hour nightmare stuck in a hallway but while the other doctor was on duty everybody was more friendly. When Dr Hastings showed up the whole ER staff seemed more stressed and unorganized. I was told he would review my labs with me but he never did, I had to ask a nurse to go over them with me as I was being discharged. He seemed to get angry when I or my family tried to ask questions. He spitefully ordered more blood tests without telling me and when I asked why he angrily said 'because that woman thinks we didn't do enough so we are running it all again'. He did what he could do medically for me and communicated with my recent surgeon to rule out post-surgery complications but the few interactions I had with him were very unpleasant.

Horrific !
Dr. Hastings is very condescending and has a horrible attitude . He greets you with 'what is the emergency' with a very sarcastic demeanor. Looks at your chart and most likely will tell you that there is nothing he can do for you and you need to follow up with PCP or specialist which may be true. Yet there is a certain way you should talk to someone especially one that is coming to a PROFESSIONAL for medical advice or seeking medical help. I felt completely unheard and i was told to sit in the waiting room with an IV. I was not offered any medication, nor did DR check on me until i was given discharge. Very lackluster of care from a Sutter physician who i expect TOP care from. As i have been with them 26 years! I would rather die than have this man help me !

Condescending and did not explain diagnosis.
He did not tell me what medication he was giving me, did not tell me how long I should expect before recovery, did not counsel me on ways to treat my condition at home until I could get a primary care appointment. Was dismissive and mocking—he comes off as feeling too important to help me. I’ll am a healthcare provider and I can say that was bad quality care.

I went to the Urgent Care because I felt like crap. They said I was dehydrated and I should go to the ER where Dr. Hastings said he couldn’t do anything for me! Meanwhile, no IV and I was told not to drink anything. I understand there are many people there but his bedside manner was horrific. SIX hours later, I’m discharged with antibiotics and an anti-nausea medicine. This guy had the nerve to write that I was a pleasant 44 year old female. I know I wasn’t being pleasant when he said he couldn’t do anything for me so a little sarcasm Dr. Hastings? Just another one of those caregivers who doesn’t really care!
