Personable enough guy; however, did not explain my condition very well or what steps I could take to stop the progression [the stenosis is progressing into my thoracic spine, as a 3rd opinion surgeon pointed out]. Refused me for surgery because I smoke and even if I quit would still not perform surgery until I had been tobacco-free for at least a year. According to my MRI I will be in a wheelchair in a year, anyway. Also told me core-strengthening P/T was useless and referred me for something called PRT which is basically just breathing exercises with yoga moves, few of which I can perform due to two joint replacements. When I asked for a prescription for a rolling walker with seat for me to use, called my HUSBAND instead of myself and told my HUSBAND to tell me not to buy one [which I did anyway; has made all the difference when needing to walk more than 30 yards]. Also recommended lumbar traction, which I am doing at P/T but it is causing severe pain in replaced hip. Won't go back.
