IUD nearly expelled
i thought the copper IUD would be the best option for me because i do not do well with hormonal birth control. i found out getting it placed that this IUD is usually placed in people after giving birth and avoided for people with heavy periods. i was having lasting pain in my uterus and eventually led me to a different gyno in the city i currently live in. she told me to immediately inform the gyno who placed bc the strings were longer than normal and knotted. my new gyno then ordered an ultrasound. they concluded it was in my lower uterus and needed to be removed as soon as my gyno was able. the pain only got worse and i ended up in the ER for an emergency removal. afterwards my gyno assessed that my uterus was small and if i got another IUD it would likely be expelled. i just think if she inspected the size of my uterus more maybe this all could have been avoided.

very out of touch with patients
over the past year while dealing with her as my obgyn, she has just been generally lacking as a healthcare provider. when i got my iud, she gave me very little information about it. after getting it put in, i had to find out from a friend that it was the biggest iud available and is typically not given to women who have not given birth… she did not tell me it is only recommended for women with a large enough uterus, that there are concerns about it breaking upon removal, or that it is not recommended for women with naturally heavy periods. when i later had concerns about pain in or around my uterus, she shrugged it off. i have literally still not been able to get any sort of help for the pain i am still actively in.

I’ve debated writing this but I feel the need to warn people about this doctor. She caused me unduly harm. I went to her because of spotting. And I asked her to order a CT scan. She said nothing will come of it and she wanted to do a biopsy for cancer instead. She performed an invasive procedure that was unscheduled, telling me it was no big deal. After I nearly passed out on the table from so much pain, she had me lay down and told me that multiple women have passed out and fallen off the table before. So before the procedure, it was not a big deal and afterwards it was multiple women have passed out. Two days later, I woke up with a severe infection in my uterus and hemorrhaging. She was curt over the phone and had me come into the office. I was greeted with her incredibly aggressive and cruel staff. I asked if I could lay down somewhere until my appointment, and they pointed to a hard bench in the waiting room. They then brought me back and told me to get on the scale even though i had just gotten weighed two days prior and I was hemorrhaging and in the most severe pain I’ve ever had in my life. I said I really need to go to a room and they aggressively said “get on the scale.” The doctor then tried to gaslight me and tell me that the procedure she did had nothing to do with the excruciating pain and sudden onset of bleeding I was experiencing. She examined me and told me I had an infection. I had to go to the hospital two days later. When I was in the ER, they did a CT scan and found a very large cyst on my ovary, which is what they think was causing the spotting before she harmed me with an unnecessary procedure. Which is what I asked her to order before this procedure. When I asked to be taken off the incredibly strong antibiotic that she put me on because of muscle pain and abdominal cramping she refused, even though she could’ve just put me on a Z pack. I had Cdiff years ago and I told her I cannot take any medication that can potentially cause Cdiff. This medication can. I also have intracranial hypertension which this medication also worsens! It also had a black box warning! But I didn’t know any of that until after because I trusted she was making choices for my best interest. Nothing she did was for my best interest. It was in her interest. She is the worst doctor I have ever been to. She is dangerous. Not only did she not listen to me when I said I didn’t want to do the procedure, when I asked for ct scan or when I asked to change antibiotics. She tried to gaslight me. She should not be practicing medicine because she is practicing from a place of ego and not to heal and help her patients.

Recommended mirena for possible endometriosis
Dr Waltrip helped me decide on what birth control to help with my terrible cycles and possible endometriosis. I was really nervous. She was awesome with the procedure. She's incredibly knowledgeable. Definitely discomfort with the procedure, but she was quick and efficient. Here's to hoping it helps! Also a shout out to her awesome nurse, Becky!

Dr. Waltrip has always been patient and thorough with answering my questions and explaining the logic behind different options. I appreciate her starting with the least invasive approaches and has been life changing twice now in terms of her care with fibroids and endo after failed attempts by other ob/gyn's.
