I received a phone call from Healthcare for Women requesting that I pay $25.00 to have the results of a recent ultrasound shared with my primary care doctor. It is the principle of the matter that offends me; there should be no fee attached for a patient's records and tests to be shared with his, or her, primary care physician; indeed, the dissemination of medical information with the primary care provider should be a free, automatic, responsible, and essential part of the total care management of the patient. I find this policy reprehensible petty, and not in the best interest of the patient. Had this ultrasound been conducted by Virginia Hospital Center, or any other testing facility, there would have been no problem with freely exchanging and sharing my records or test results, but I was given no choice for it to be an in-office procedure. Since I refuse to pay, my results are now being held hostage. This practice is one that puts corporate greed ahead of patient health.

Dr. McClendon delivered my baby & I couldn’t have asked for a better provider. She’s professional, and a bit no nonsense which I appreciated. Gave the right amount of encouragement and I felt confident with her supporting me as she responded quickly to things that happened during delivery. She had a very busy weekend with many deliveries yet her demeanor remained unruffled. Came to visit me the next day & I was very happy with the circumsition she performed on my baby. I highly recommend her!
