Incompetent
I worked with Dr. Carlberg at South Coast Medical Center in Laguna Beach CA. She was a drunk - check public records- and incompetent as a psychiatrist. I think she failed as as osteopath and thought that being a psychiatrist would would work out for her. Avoid this altruistic covert narcissist at all costs. I saw first hand what she is capable of. Shocked she doesn't have a lawsuit against her for malpractice.

A contentious person, Nicole Carlberg provokes conflict so she can assert her power as a physician and demean her patient. While I was her patient she gave me absolutely no opportunity to work with her toward the best outcome of my treatment. It was either her way or she became angry and labeled me with grossly incorrect psychiatric diagnoses. I would never recommend Carlberg to anyone.

Very unfavorable experience as a parent paying for a childs care with this Dr. Aside from horrible billing practices. She no-showed on my daughter 3 times for her own issues, yet when my daughter no-showed on one occasion we get charged $200 and then she dropped my daughters care because of that no-show??? Still getting errant/incorrect bills months later. Stay far away, there is something definitely wrong and unethical with this "Dr" and her practice!

My experience was horriable. Dr carlberg is dangerous she should not be allowed to prescribe medicine to people. I told her I wanted off all my medicine she said I could just stop taking there was nothing on that would cause withdrawals. She was wrong I became very ill and when I confronted her about it she said I was wrong. I went to my regular dr and they told me you cannot stop taking a medicine I’m on because I would become very ill, which in fact is what happened. She is very manipulative

Doctor completely denied my daughter's referral without giving a reason for not wanting to see her. As there are only a limited number of contacted providers in our area and the wait time to see a specialist is really far out, this is an unacceptable practice.

I've had two visits with Nicole Carlberg (so far)and have found her very easy to talk to. She patiently listens to me, asks good questions and offers helpful insights. I believe she works to understand where I am coming from so that she can offer personalized, practical help. She is also excellent with medication management. I also appreciate how conscientious she and her nurse are about the cost of medication and how hard they work to accommodate my needs in that area.

It should have been a red flag that while waiting for my first appointment the patient before me came out in a screaming match with Dr. Carlberg. Despite this, I decided to give her a chance. Every single appointment I went to she was consistently 30-45 minutes late. Throughout the years I have seen several psychaitrists, and they have never been as rude and unprofessional as Dr. Carlberg. I want to save anyone who is considering Dr. Carlberg the headache. Stay far away.

This lady is the most uncaring doctor there is. After waiting for 11/2 hours I saw her for 10 minutes. She was extremely agitated because I would not sign her waiver to take away my hippa rights. Then she accused me of coming to see her so I could get disability. She then angrily asked me to reschedule. She called a few days later and said I would not be a good 'fit for her. I will be reporting her to the State Board of Medicine for unprofessional conduct.

Unprofessional. Every appointment that I had scheduled, she wasn't even in her building. As if my time was not important. I moved 2200 miles away and informed her office before I left. I ran out of an Rx that I'd taken for years. One that cannot be instantly stopped. She didn’t give me her time to let me know that she didn’t intend on refilling. I told her secretary that I moved and her secretary said that the doctor knew. What kind of Psychiatrist would put their patient through this?

As someone that works with adults with mental illness it is nice to know that there is a psychiatrist that is not only available to us for our residents but is kind and caring and accepts them as they are. She is one of the few in this town that our facility uses for our residents due to her wonderful ability to help them.
