First doctor to run tests without me begging
My toddler has been so sick so I took him into the Urgent Care. I always have great care at this urgent care clinic and this was my first time meeting Dr. Harker. I appreciated his professionalism, the questions he asked me, that he'd read my notes before coming into the room, and that he was willing to offer tests so we could get answers. When one of the tests came back negative, he offered to do some further testing (with my permission) so that we could get the help needed. He also told me how to proceed if my son didn't get well in two days. He also called me personally about my test results coming back negative because I could tell he knew I was distressed. If people have a hard time with him, it might be because he's a no-nonsense, get 'er done type personality (in my opinion) and for some people, that doesn't work. He was just what we needed in our situation, but I'm sorry to others who needed a different personality.

Very Helpful
I had a very good experience today with Dr. Harker and when I came on to leave a review I was so surprised to see the negativity. He was very attentive to my sons situation, even calling me 20 minutes after I left to make sure he clarified something that he thought may have confused me. I was grateful for his attentiveness and when I called back with a couple of questions, he was happy to answer them.

Great Doctor
After having seen Dr. Harken at least half a dozen times at the IHC Instacare (upper respiratory infection, strep throat, mastitis, etc.) I am sad to see all these negative reviews. I feel that he’s been kind, considerate, understanding and very much helped me on my way to recovery. My own brother is a doctor out of state, and I feel that makes me more picky about my own doctor/care. Whenever I go to the Instacare (which has been far too often in the last 12 months) I always hope that it will be Dr. Harder because then I feel that I can let my guard down and not have to “fight” for my care. It’s always obvious that he’s reviewed my chart (and past ailments) before even entering the room.

Misdiagnosed and Dismissed
I’d have to say I agree with the other reviews, and wish I would have seen them prior to being seen in the urgent care. Not only was his bedside manner dismissive and he downplayed my condition, he showed little concern and engagement. I left with more questions than I had before I got there. I was seen the next day by my PCP and she was concerned by the misdiagnosis and confused by the incorrect tests he ran. Save your time and see literally anyone else; he sent me home with zero intervention and to suffer through my symptoms that my PCP solved within 20 minutes of meeting me. Not only that, what he told me and what he stated in my chart that I later accessed were two VERY different things. When you are in a scary, vulnerable place with your health, you deserve not only empathy and concern, but medical competency and honesty from your doctor. None of the above were present with Dr Harker.

After being seen in the urgent care following a scary medical episode, I was completely dismissed and brushed off. What he told me and what he wrote down in my chart that I later accessed were two VERY different things. I left feeling more confused and concerned than when I got there. After following up with my primary care provider, she was alarmed at how I had been treated and ultimately misdiagnosed. Not only was I misdiagnosed, he ran all of the wrong tests and ignored a few that would have been important to the underlying problem at hand. He seems to be checking off boxes, and not practicing medicine, which is quite alarming. Poor bedside manner can sometimes be made up for in medical knowledge and skill, but both are severely lacking here. If I would have known, I would’ve seen literally anyone else. I essentially went home with the same symptoms, and anxiety about a diagnoses I didn’t even have. After seeing a provider with empathy, personality, who listened to my concerns, treated them appropriately, and then demonstrated medical competency, I would NEVER recommend being seen by him.

Not good. I understand some patients beg for all these extra things the physicians know they don't need and don't want to waste time or money. This isn't about that. He seems to have an ego complex and not very good patient centered communication. I've seen him twice at an instacare and both times I felt rushed and a little brushed off. Don't see him if you are looking for good patient centered communication.

I've seen him twice at Insta and he has an ego complex, poor patient centered communication, Avoid him. Both times I felt brushed off & rushed. The 2nd it was about a piece of contact lens stuck in my eye. My initial reaction was to give another chance. It was going well, he used dye & uv light to help find it, then he used a slit lamp (which would allow him to see more clearly) to double check. When I asked if he'd be able to use the uv light on the slit lamp (just an easy flip of a switch) to again help highlight the lens, he said he didn't need to. He then said he didn't see anything. I asked him if there was a reason why last time i had a piece in my eye i didn't feel it. He then irritatedly responded that if I wanted a second opinion I was free to. (Earlier when he couldn't see it he suggested going to a specialist if i felt it later.) I did later that day (This Dr was amazing) and there wasn't anything in my eye. But he spent more time with me and answered my questions kindly.

Possibly the wors experience with a doctor ever. Rude, judgemental, impatient, and inconsiderate. Went to the urgent care with a very serious condition, which he ended up misdiagnosing, wasting my precious time. This person should not carry a medical license.

I have never felt the need to leave a review, but my experience with Dr. Harker was so bad it merits one. He honestly came in the room looking like he wanted to die. He the proceeded to ignore my symptoms, he acted hostile. Then left. Don't be a doctor if you don't want to be.

I would like to leave no star, but that unfortunately is not a fair option in the instance. Dr Harker rushed me through my appointment and I don't feel he gave me a complete and comprehensive diagnosis. When I expressed my concerns in regards to the potential misdiagnosis he told me he would just leave the room to give me some time to think. What I wanted was an explanation for my symptoms, not an ultimatum. His medical assistant seems total uneducated and unwilling to find answers.
