I had been suffering for 8 years with a failed knee replacement surgery that I had done in Dallas, Texas. I finally decided to do something about it because the pain was unbearable and made appointment with Dr Colacchio. He took one look at the X-rays and said that it needed to be replaced asap and scheduled me for two weeks out because it was so bad- the night before my surgery he actually called me to sincerely ask if I had any questions or concerns- how kind of him! I am now 3 months out from my March 22nd surgery and guess what!? No pain! A miracle really. I highly highly recommend this surgeon for any joint pain anyone is having, if anyone can fix you up, he can! Thank you Dr Colacchio!!!

I had 3 joint replacements over 1.5 years. Each experience was excellent. From pre-op to the operations, post-op to final post -op visit was handled in the most professional and caring manner possible. The care at Maine Medical Center was exceptional. Every RN and PT provided me with the most caring and competent care. Thanks to the entire team I have my life back and am able to participate into playing with our grandchildren and have started gardening again! Wonderful!

He listens to his patients very well and comes up with the plan that best suits that individual. He deserves a 5 star rating. He has a gift for this type of surgery. His skills have made it so that I have no pain in my hip or back. I am forever grateful.

In February of 2023 I had a total hip replacement by Dr. Colacchio. I had a wonderful experience. He did a fantastic job and was very caring and very professional and knowledgeable! I would highly recommend him to anyone considering a hip or knee replacement.

I had an appointment with Dr. Colacchio in Dec. 23 due to a right hip revision that had gone bad and he found in doing an asperation that I had infection in my right hip. Dr. Colacchio and his team operated on me in January and had to put a medicated pacer in and I had to be on IV medication for serval days. I had a wonderful infectious disease doctor as well as Dr. Colacchio's team that came to my hospital room every morning checking my dressing as well as myself. I was in the hospital for several weeks getting the IV medication. The infection was very serve. I am truly blessed to have had a doctor like Dr. Colacchio and Team, I just don't know what would have happened if he had not found this infection. This comes from my heart to Dr. Colacchio and Team....There is no words that can say how much I appreciate all that you have done for me, I more that blessed, thankful to have found you as a doctor and your team.

Had been previously diagnosed with a muscle injury and spent over a year on PT. Dr. Colacchio saw my Xray, diagnosed arthritis (bone-on-bone) and immediately recommended a hip join replacement. I was pain free in post-op and have had not one more moment of pain since then. After 8 weeks I am just about back to normal (from 2 years ago). Thank you, Dr. Colacchio. I HIGHLY recommend him to all!

I am a 58 year old woman who was bone on bone with my left hip and excruciating pain for years. I was so nervous about having a complete hip replacement but Dr. Colacchio and his staff were so wonderful - Dr. Colacchio called me a week before my surgery and then again the night before to reassure me about my surgery. My surgery went beautifully and I have experienced no pain since! If I ever needed another replacement I wouldn't hesitate or feel nervous - and I can't thank Dr. Colacchio enough - this surgery changed my life.

Dr Colacchio performed my 2nd hip replacement a few months ago. His office recommended 6 exercises to do prior to surgery. I did the exercises at home prior to surgery as recommended. I continued the exercises post surgery and can now say confidently and without exaggeration that I am finally pain-free. I can roll over in bed, stand up and walk straight without any pain whatsoever. The fear, the worry and the nervousness experienced prior to the surgery seems worlds away. It doesn't happen overnight. Like most things, there is a process to follow and endure. First, navigating with a walker, then progressing to a cane, then following through with physical therapy. All of these worked in succession to move me towards walking completely pain-free. I am immensely grateful to Dr. Colacchio and his team for getting me to this point. I couldn't be happier. I wish I had it done earlier! So glad I did do it!

Dr. Colacchio was my surgeon for my hip replacement. This was my first (and only) major surgery and I was very nervous. I cannot recommend him and his team highly enough. They did an outstanding job preparing me for my surgery, performing the surgery and providing me with the aftercare. I have had no complications.

From start to finish the staff and Dr. were very attentive. They took time to make sure I knew what they had found that was bothering me and what steps were necessary to repair it. Took time to explain everything so i could understand it. I could not have found a more cordial bunch of people anywhere. This includes people checking me in ,radiology staff , nurses and doctor. It was my first time going out of town for services and was well worth it. Having the hip replacement was the easiest surgery i have ever done. The recommended follow up therapy was spot on. I am a very happy patient of Dr Colacchio and all his staff.

My dad has an extreme life long case of scoliosis, which has forced his body chemistry to utilize lung capacity limits to one. Dr's in Bangor, Me area continuously had him jumping through hoops to schedule a much needed hip replacement surgery. Dr Colacchio was willing and confident in the surgery needed and scheduled dad as quickly as possible. The surgery was more than a success! Within a short time he was feeling great and asked Dr Colacchio if he could fix the rest of his 85 year old body, as good as his hip! Excellent, efficient, professional and superb staff!

I had a knee revision. I had had a knee replacement 7 years ago in Florida and it was not done well. My femur and tibia were at a point of near dislocation. Luckily, I was able to have the surgery done when there was a cancellation. Dr. Colacchio's office was great at coordinating with me. The incision was extremely well done and the before and after X-Rays were startling! Dr. Colacchio is well-respected among all of the professionals I have talked with and he has a well-deserved reputation. He is not only a great surgeon but is also great at listening and explaining. Everyone in his office is very caring and helpful.

I have had three previous surgeries on my knee, arthroscopy twice and a partial replacement once. This time I got a full replacement, and after only three months I feel less pain that after any of the other surgeries. Dr Colacchio was great at every meeting and put up with lots of questions, and I never felt rushed. He even called the night before surgery to let me know it would go well. Just all around happy with the experience (except the first month of recovery where I did horribly from the anesthesia, but that's all done now).

Dr. Colacchio has put together a competent, caring team which provided me an excellent result with my recent knee replacement. Daniel, Patrick, Dr. Colacchio as well as the entire staff at Maine Medical should be commended for the peace of mind they gave me during the entire procedure. After spending some time limping around in pain my Primary Care Physician ordered an x-ray that showed my left hip was bone on bone. I consulted a local Orthopedic Surgeon who said I needed a total hip replacement and he would be glad to do it for me. I asked if he did the muscle sparing procedure known as the "Direct Anterial Approach". He said he did not but told me that Dr. Nicholas Colacchio is the doctor who has perfected this procedure. I researched Dr. Colacchio and found all reviews were 5 stars. I then called for an appointment. The entire experience was complete starting with another x-ray and explanation about everything. Surgery day went so smooth. Everyone at the Maine Medical Center was so nice and professional. Dr. Colacchio and his team worked their magic and the surgery went better than I had expected. If I need another hip replacement I will definitely trust my surgery to Dr. Colacchio and his team, which are truly 5-star.

I broke my hip at 15 years old and lived with arthritic pain for a long time. Being so young I was nervous about replacement, ultimately deciding to go through with replacement at 33 years of age. Dr. Colacchio helped me become very comfortable with the procedure and my long-term prospects. The surgery was very smooth, and recovery (while long by nature) has been easier than expected.
