Dr. Ngozi Etufugh, DDS

If I were a dentist And had an apprentice, I would be sure to make the apprentice-dentist aware: That it's no good getting patients to come in, if, when they arrive, no one able and willing to clean their teeth is there. Before you can start filling teeth, or prescribing treatments, pills, or ointments, First make sure that your receptionist is able to make correct appointments. These particular DDS-es may know a lot of dental physiology and chemistry, But making the patient waste travel-time, and then not having someone in the office at the appointed time who BOTH does the requested service, AND accepts the patient's insurance, is not good dentistry. Being turned away with unclean, unchecked teeth which are still coated with bacterial plaque, can cause patients to grind their teeth in frustration, And even those of us who are not dentists know that if you damage your enamel by grinding your teeth, there is no regeneration. What a waste of time. I called for an appointment for extractions, the lady did not even ask me if i had dental insurance, she booked me and I had to ask her if they take my dental insurance. I went for a consultation for extractions and other routine care. Waited an hour to tell me they don't do extractions and that i need to bring in my own x rays because my health insurance covers them only once every 3 years which I doubt. This said, I have not seen Dr Ngozi Etufugh so I would not comment on her work. The building is in Central park South but inside the Facility you feel like you're in a 3rd world country. Advice, Dr. Ngozi Etufugh, please ask your personnel to do their job.

Fantastic! I had a root canal that went south and needed an extraction. Dr. Etufugh was professional, personable and very kind. Her staff was also top notch. I had requested sedation for the procedure, and went under so fast that I didn't have time to panic. After the procedure, the staff was very concerned for my well-being. I am terrified of dentists, and Dr. Etufugh did everything to alleviate my fears.

chop shop! if you want wait over an hour for your dental appointment and be treated rudely then go. They tell you nothing is covered and poor service and lack of quality patient care.

IF RED FLAG WAS A PERSON! Everything she said and done either didn't make sense, felt intuitively odd or was wrong. She is willing to almost permanently hurt you under surgery then communicate with you. She made so many mistakes, nothing made sense. Dr. Etufugh herself is good however, horrible experience with the receptionist staff. I had to cancel my oral surgery due to the staff located across the street from City Hall Park. The staff was unhelpful and won’t lift a finger in trying to determine if a Preauthorization was approved by the insurance or not(a simple look at the patient chart would have been able to answer that question but Nope). Getting hold of the staff is almost impossible on the phone when I myself have witness in person that the staff members will let the phone ring while they are 5 feet away chatting with each other. It’s tough enough dealing with tooth pain it’s another trying to deal with unwilling and incompetent staff.

I wish I had read these reviews and not blindly trusted my referring dentist. I also wish I had acknowledged the first, second and fourth red flag and left. I went in for a premolar extraction that was aggressively done by Dr Etufugh in 5 to 8 minutes and caused a puncture of my sinus and internal bleeding. Dr Etufugh was the only surgeon on call that day, I counted during my 5 hour wait she went through 20 patients in 5 hours which means she did extractions for 4 patients per hour. An extraction average time is 30 minutes. That's why all her procedures get sever complications afterwards that require steroids. I should have seen all the red flags and left. First red flag : a 5 hour wait, I had an appointment at 1:30 I was seen at 6:30 pm. At 5pm they were still calling on 1pm appointments. Multiple people with the same appointment time. But this is definitely not the worse of this experience. Second red flag : A patient's relative begging the nurse to do something about her sister

Terrible bedside manner. Very condescending and judgmental. Recommended neurotoxin injections for TMD which is last resort dangerous, very expensive, not covered by insurance and there are many other rxs that are safer than this that she didn't even mention. Kept going on about cosmetic benefits, which was NOT the point of my visit. She should not be able to practice

Uses sedation: you sleep when you wake up you are done.

Very unprofessional. Her entire focus is money that was already guaranteed instead of patient care. Her staff have no clue how to run an office or business.

I was seen promptly by Dr. Etufugh in her Manhattan office on 1/9/17. A large upper wisdom tooth had broken into two parts, one large and one very small. After gently applying needles, Dr. Etufugh got the whole thing out in a minute. I was floored when told that stitches would not be needed. There were no after-effects from the needles like prolonged numbness and even grogginess, as in the past. I am one very thankful 79-year old.

I had a really bad tooth ache, Hot Tooth to be exact. I chose her and I was glad. From the moment I walked in, she 1. Listened 2. Sympathized and 3. empathized. I was in a lot of discomfort and she made me feel so relaxed assuring me that she would do everything she can to help. Well her, along with staff did just that. I recommend her above all the rest. I am home, happy thanks to Dr. Etufugh Thank you so much.

I love her she's the best o never wanted to go to dentist but every time my tooth come out she is very general and quick in and out
