I would recommend Dr. Carp to anyone.
Yes, Dr. Carp is not chatty. If I wanted chatty I'd see a social worker. He is professional and polite. We are very happy with his care. I am a nurse, and have had professional experiences with hundreds of doctors. I know a good one when I meet him. The practice is very busy and you will likely have to wait. Just relax and read a book.

Incision is healing nicely after surgery
Visited the ER in the afternoon and was diagnosed with appendicitis. Had to stay overnight to wait for my surgery around 6-7AM. Dr. Carp was the surgeon that operated on the emergency appendectomy. (thankfully it did not burst yet). He performed an open appendectomy - he doesn't do laparoscopic. However - the incisions has healed properly and I am happy with his decision. You have 3 complimentary follow-ups that you can schedule with Dr. Carp afterwards to review the healing progress or ask any question/express any concerns. Staffs were friendly. Dr. Carp seems a bit rushed during the follow-up appointments, but he does take the time to answer any questions you have.

I think mostly all the people that he was not good with was minorities,if you where not a minority then your treatment was probably good.,I even had a very rough experience with him, he should not be in the practice especially when he is not treating all people of color equally the same and I believe that this is the problem as well as the staff there who is not a minority who does the same thing it’s a shame and horrible and anyone who experience this really should put in a complaint this has been to long in the makings.,it’s wrong and sad.,etc.

He was my late father's surgeon. Never seemed concerned about any issues my Dad had post op. He was cold, non informative. Waited long hours in waiting area. Waited long time for surgery. We had the same experience with the staff.

Excellent surgeon. I had a very tricky surgical procedure in a rare spot. Dr. Carp did a great job and removed all of the mass.

Dr. Carp is a man of few words. He is however a very respected surgeon that removed my large cancerous tumor from a delicate area of my abdomen. I didn’t go to Lankenau Hospital to have him read me bedtime stories or chat about the Eagles. Quite simply, I went there to have this gifted surgeon save my life. Sure his visits with me were brief but he always made his rounds when he said he would. Sometimes they were at the tail end of a 12 hr surgical day. If I ever need a complicated surgical procedure done in the future this is the surgeon I call first. Thanks, doc, I owe you my life!

Dr. Carp was extremely warm and kind to me before and after my surgery. He is also very well respected by the staff at Lankenau, which says a lot to me. I was admitted through the E.R. with an emergency appendectomy, and he was the surgeon on call. I didn't have much of a choice in surgeons, but the staff told me I was lucky that the chief was available to do my surgery, and I was in very good hands.

The man saved my life, I was told by other doctors it was not looking good and I would need months of chemo, and possibly be disabled because of the location, This man walked into my room and said ill take it out tomorrow, that was 2years ago, he is always busy, and doesn't show a lot of emotions so if your looking for someone to tell you jokes and laugh with he is not your man but if you want someone to look you in thee eye and tell you the truth, you found him, thank you Dr Carp for life!!

He is always late, and very rude. Seems to be too busy to be bothered with his patients. You are lucky if he even looks at you.

He briefly spoke to my wife after my surgery, simultaneously speaking to someone else and walking away from her. In recovery I had to shout my question across the room while he was walking away from me. Today I sat in his waiting room for over 1.25 hrs without being told that he was running late. They then told me I was next, which just meant I was next to be put into an exam room to sit there for who knows how long. All he had to do was look at my incision. We are talking about a 5 second visit

I was recently diagnosed with gastric cancer and had my first visit with Dr Carp yesterday, and many hours after that he placed a port under my skin so I begin to receive chemo next week. I waited for more than one hour to be briefly seen by him, he was rough, cold and did not seem to care about my situation. Procedure was supposed to start at 12 PM, but started around 4. Since I was not allowed to eat or drink anything all day, I was starving, in pain and weak. I will look for another doctor.

In performing what was supposed to be a routine neck lymph node removal for a biopsy, Carp accidentally severed my spinal accessory nerve, which resulted in a paralyzed trapezius, the muscle that controls my right shoulder. As a result I have serious physical impairment and constant pain in the shoulder. He was unaware during the operation that he had made such a consequential mistake. After some time I was diagnosed, and a subsequent operation confirmed the nerve had been severed.

I have had nothing but a positive experience with Dr. Carp and his staff. He has been my surgical oncologist for eleven years. On March 15, 2016 he performed a mastectomy with reconstruction with Dr. Serletti. I am pleased with my results.
