Dr. Nelms spent less then 5 minutes with me and determined that all my hip pain was caused by my spine despite the multiple MRI's that showed that I had issues with my hip, he did not listen to me or ask questions he did not review previous records, he moved my leg 3 times and made me walk across the room 1 time and back the room was less than 6 feet across and referred me to a PA in 4 months for my spine who will order a MRI if she feels its necessary. After all of this he wrote a report to my doctor explained how much time he spent with me and how I totally understood and agreed with him. It has taken 3 years 2 MRI, multiple xrays and shots in my hip (which by the way helped, and he can't understand why they would) to get a referral to a orthopedics, and he treated me like a nothing. I would not refer him to my worst enemy. However I would like to say Becky in his office was extremly sweet and kind. Unfortunately you can not leave a negative star

Unhappy with Dr. Nelms – Sep 10, 2021

Dr Nelms was a fresh surgeon when I had my first hip done with Dr Howe in 2012,{at age48} I had no doubt that Dr Nelms would be doing my second hip. On 6/11/21 he did , he offered a new approach that between us decided it would be the best for me. same great time spent in the office, same wonderful staff waiting to answer ANY questions, his nurse Norma is wonderful. I will be recommending this group still for hip conditions. I just don't have the space to write how happy my husband and myself feel about Dr Nelms and his staff, if you have any issues with your hips, do not wait ! THIS IS YOUR TEAM ! you will never regret it!

I had a total hip replacement. I was home the following day and in little need of pain medication. Within a few weeks, I was stronger and more functional than I had been for many months before surgery.

I had the better than best experience with my hip replacement. I thought I would need to go into rehab to recover, being 70 but I got to go home in 2 and a half days and being able to climb stairs in less than a week. I would give Dr. Nelms ten stars!

Ok in few words: my anterior hip replacement surgery by Dr Nelms was exceptional! Out of the hospital the next day, Jan 19th. No walker, no cane, no need. 1st week I was doing stairs, PT and moving gracefully. Besides the expertise of Dr Nelms, I have to credit this smooth recovery to the kind patience and after care advise from Nurse Norma Daigneault. This team, the Dynamic Duo!

Dr. Nelms was a referral from friends who had hip & knee replacement surgery. I have to say I was a bit anxious about what was facing me. I can't thank Dr. Nelms and his staff enough for supporting and guiding me through the surgery and recovery processes -the result was an outcome that got me back to living my life again! - Marti Powers Keyes

Recently had a total right hip replacement. There is no way possible that I could have asked for a better experience!!! Dr. Nelms work is unbelievable. He has a great attention to detail and a bedside manner that made me feel that he truly cared about me. I was back to work in 2 weeks 6 days and continue to get better each day. Again the work performed was just perfect. His entire staff including Norma is also beyond compare going above and beyond in communication and curtailing any fears.

He took care of my husband in 2015 and missed identifying a tumor forming across multiple visits and images. By the time it was identified he did not feel qualified to deal with it and provided no support other than a referral to another doctor out-of-state. The last visit required a 45 minute wait while my husband suffered in pain sitting in the waiting room.
