I Recommend You Stay Far Away From HIm!
That is unless you enjoy being talked down to and treated like he understands your history without doing an intake, or asking his patient what is going on. I have nothing good to say about Dr. Wass. He couldn't be bothered to attend our first meeting after I was assigned to him. My old PCP had left the practice. I was on time, and the appointment was booked months ago. Instead of him doing the initial intake, Dr. Wass had a proxy, a third-year medical student fill in. He should've been in the room the entire time. He is my doctor, not the student. Then, after 45 minutes, he appeared and immediately went out into the hall for 5 minutes, to discuss me with the student. That is seriously awful. No way did he learn the pertinent points of my health history in that short time.He ordered many tests and didn't contact me about the results. However, he omitted some that are important such as cholesterol, etc.I left the office feeling quite sad.I will not be seeing Dr. Wass again.

A great doctor
My PCP (who I loved) suddenly moved to England and I was assigned to Dr. Wass at the same practice. He was new and I didn't know what to expect, plus he had a 'high bar to meet' after my previous PCP. Well, he's easy to talk to, looks at the 'whole picture' of what's going on with your health and you make decisions together. He's young and smart -- up to date on medicine. You can communicate through a Patient Gateway and I always receive a timely response. If there's something that's outside of his field of expertise he gets you to the right person. I feel lucky I got Dr. Wass as my new PCP.

Worst PCP ever
I have had such great PCPs at Bullfinch for over 10 years until I got assigned to Nathan Wass.He is so below the average of PCPs I have had and provides a level of care that is unsatisfactory in all regards. He doesn't listen . He is dismissive when I ask questions. He was especially closed minded to questions I had about more proactive/preventative tests/treatments. He does not build rapport. He was condescending, defensive and ill prepared to meet me as a new patient to him. He had no idea of my medical history upon meeting me. He repeatedly mentions he is highly trained and a medical professional. His attempts at patient education were: 'don't smoke; walk'. I have not smoked in over 30 years and I can't walk because my knee is badly arthritic. I regularly ride a bicycle. He would have known all of that had he read my chart. Another example of his patient education was: 'without your heart, you can't live'. I was shocked he would say that to any adult.

Outstanding Physician
Has been my primary care physician for years, and has helped me navigate through normal aging and crisis conditions knowledgeably and thoroughly. He's been completely focused on my health and well-being. He even calls personally whenever there's an issue. He's the finest practitioner I've ever had. I highly recommend him.

A great doctor
He’s been my PCP for over 3 years. He is a great doctor as he addressed my many health issues and took them seriously. He’s been quick and very prompt with my needs/messages/refills. He is the BEST!

Not empathic, not attentive, difficult to get seen
I wound up with Dr Wass after my amazing PCP of 25 years retired. My previous PCP was amazing. Dr Wass is anything but. He is impossible to get ahold of. When you do see him, he is merely perfunctory. I had an emergency that required a prescription refill (I was in tremendous pain) and I could not get Dr. Wass or any of his assistants to actually return my calls or deal with the issue for days. I called complaining of chest pain and was told Dr. Wass was completely unavailable and that they could see me in a week. I'll also add that Mt. Auburn (where Dr. Wass practices) has eliminated their walk-in clinic. So you can't even try to get seen faster by showing up and waiting your turn.

Dr. Wass is a caring and compassionate provider. He took the time and put thoughtfulness into my health plan. He also seemed to have done his research and was familiar with my health history. As a bonus, the staff were kind and helpful!

Called daily for 3 weeks straight, left 10+ voicemails...not once was I ever able to get through to somebody or get a returned call. I have no idea how to get care if they do not have people picking up phones or returning calls. Embarrassing. Do yourself a favor and pick a different doctor's office

Dr. Wass was covering for my husband’s regular PCP. Wass was unsatisfactory in all regards. He was distant, dismissive, peremptory, didn’t listen, and seemed to have no regard or compassion for what we shared with him. Wass then incorrectly wrote an order for a prescription which the pharmacy would not dispense because of its multiple errors. This was not corrected until 24 hrs. later after several calls to the practice. As a result, my husband's agony was unnecessarily prolonged.

I had an excellent experience with Dr Wass. He was totally prepared and familiar with my medical history. He drew me out to talk about a couple of bad habits that were adversely effecting my health. I had lab work done and he followed up immediately to review the results. Also, because of a cancellation, he gave me a full hour of his time. He is very knowledgeable and trained under one of the best primary care physicians in the Boston area.

Dr. Wass replaced my doctor of 29 years and supposedly came with great recommendations. He doesn't listen. He doesn't answer calls. He doesn't interpret tests, though he's happy to order them. He is dismissive when you ask questions. He does not build rapport. And he does NONE of the patient education that my previous doctor did regarding any concerns I had. I can only imagine he does not answer questions because he has no clue. Perhaps he will improve with age and experience, but I think his style reflects a lack of care about his patients at the core. After a few short months with him, I'm on the hunt for a new PCP.

Dr Wass is just out of residency and it shows. Not only does he lack experience but he doesn’t have a bedside manner that instills confidence in him. He does not make a definite decision and often leaves things up to the patient. When discussing things he has odd pauses that leaves one wondering if he is paying attention or doesn’t know what to tell you. He is not very reassuring when looking for advice or answers. Also, if you call the office and leave a message you will probably not hear back from him

Dr. Nathan Wass became my primary care doctor after the primary care doctor I had had for 27 years retired. He is, by far, the worst doctor I have ever encountered. He lacks empathy and warmth, and left me to spend a weekend in pain and opioid withdrawal because he fundamentally changed his opioid policy without any notice, which is not only an example of his lack of empathy, but also shows how rigid he can be (being rigid is the status quo for him, and one of the main reasons why he is not a good doctor). He also lacks diagnostic skills, which may be because of his lack of experience, so someday, he may improve, but I wouldn’t want to count on that. I really can’t think of any positive attributes this doctor may currently have, so therefore, see no reason why anyone would want to see him professionally. Instead, I recommend that when choosing a primary care doctor, avoid Dr. Nathan Wass, or you most likely will regret it.
