I had a visit for recurrent ear infections and ETD that no longer respond to antibiotics, antihistamines, and decongestants. I first met with the resident, who had an excellent bed-side manner and he agreed that I would be a candidate for ear tubes. Dr. Hales, however, was the complete opposite. He blew off my symptoms and gaslighted me. He lied about the number of times ear infections had to occur for me to have ear tubes. He made out like that same minor procedure was dangerous when, it is done with a local anesthetic in under 15 minutes in adults, with very slim risks. To add insult to injury, he tried to gaslight me to make out like my symptoms were not that bad in comparison to his brother, who suffered with fluid in his ears for six months and just let it resolve on its own. Then he told me to try antihistamines and decongestants after I had already informed him that I was not responding to those treatments. So, I told him again. His response? Keep trying Zyrtec.

I’m so thankful for Dr Hales and his skill as a surgeon. I was diagnosed with oral cancer that was painful and a worry for my wife and I. After a lengthy surgery he was confident he had removed the cancer. A year later and I’m able to agree with him. Sir, you saved my life and I will be forever grateful to him and his excellent staff. I just wish it were possible to give 20 stars. God bless you Sir.

I had a rather unusual throat issue that Dr. Hales knew exactly how to treat. He was the only ENT surgeon I found in San Antonio who performed this procedure. My surgery went perfectly thanks to Dr. Hales experience and skill. I would highly recommend Dr. Hales. Karen Schertz, TX

I was referred to Dr Hales by our neighbor who is a Nurse. I was diagnosed with Oral Cancer back in 2015 and had no idea how to proceed. Dr Hales was amazing. He led us through the process and made sure we were well informed the entire time. The 10 hour surgery went extremely well and the results could not have been better. Dr Hales removed the cancer from the affected area and luckily I did not need Chemo or Radiation. His team is absolutely the best and I would refer Dr Hales to everyone

I am forever grateful to Dr. Hales for his care he provided before/after my Thyroid Surgery. I put my faith in him to cure me as I had abnormal enlarged mass on both sides of my neck. His knowledge, dedication and service he and his staff provided made this experience a more positive one. My family and I cannot express enough our gratitude for your care you have given me. Very knowledgeable. Thorough explanation of all procedures. Seemed truly concerned about diagnosing and treating my problem. Willing to listen to all questions without acting as if he needed to move along. Follow-up call to my home following surgery to check on my condition. Truly caring physician.
