I came to see Dr. Holt with severe back pain that radiated down my leg and numbness in my toes. I wanted a referral to go see an orthopedist, which she gave me, but she told me I didn't need to go, because my symptoms would likely go away on their own. At the orthopedist, I learned that I had a massive herniated disc and needed surgery to avoid permanent neurological damage. If I had listened to Dr. Holt and had not gotten a second opinion, I would be permanently disabled.
