The treatment my daughter received from Dr. Nagamani Rao at Clear Lake Women's Center during her implant removal was not just unprofessional—it was shockingly disgraceful. After hearing my daughter’s account of what happened, we were left stunned at the complete lack of empathy, compassion, and basic patient care exhibited by Dr. Rao. The procedure began with Dr. Nagamani Rao administering a local anesthetic at Clear Lake Women's Center, but instead of waiting for the medication to take full effect, she rushed ahead as if her schedule was more important than my daughter’s well-being. My daughter, in her early 20s, immediately told Dr. Rao that the area wasn’t numb and respectfully asked for a few more minutes. The doctor, however, waited for a mere 10 seconds before grabbing the scalpel and beginning the removal, treating my daughter’s pain as a minimal inconvenience. When my daughter spoke up once more, stating that she could still feel everything and requested more time, Dr. Rao disregarded her entirely. As the pain increased, my daughter, in obvious distress, said, “Damn, that hurts.” How did Dr. Nagamani Rao respond? Not with compassion or care but with this cold, callous statement: “You can leave my office. I am not going to tolerate that kind of language. I can’t just wave a magic wand and get it out; I have to dig for it!” My daughter was eventually reduced to tears—literally crying—in pain, terrified, and humiliated by Dr. Rao's response. She had no choice but to endure the rest of the procedure in silence, tears streaming down her face as Dr. Nagamani Rao continued with no regard for her pain or comfort. Ironically, by the time the procedure was concluded, the area had finally gone numb—just as my daughter had requested at the start. After reflecting on the possible reasons for this, it was clear that Dr. Rao's impatience stemmed from being 45 minutes behind schedule, putting her poor time management above my daughter’s comfort. When my wife heard what had happened, she immediately called Clear Lake Women's Center. Although the office was closed, she left a message requesting that Dr. Nagamani Rao personally call back the next morning to address the situation. Instead of owning up to her actions, the doctor sent her receptionist—someone who had no involvement in this ordeal—to face our frustration. Dr. Rao herself never called, never apologized, and demonstrated a complete lack of accountability. Any hope that Dr. Nagamani Rao had even a tiny vapor of compassion in her soul was shattered. This doctor’s cold, condescending behavior is shocking. If you value being treated with care, respect, and basic human dignity, I urge you to stay far away from Dr. Nagamani Rao and Clear Lake Women's Center. My daughter’s suffering was entirely preventable, but Dr. Rao's disregard for her well-being has left a lasting scar. Don’t take the same risk—seek care elsewhere.

Horrible
I went to DR Rao for months, the staff extremely nice and courteous but confused me with Medicaid insurance every visit and I had 3-4 visits. Dr Rao examined me took tissue never did she tell me my uterus was extremely large and possibly cancer, not a word spoken or written after several visits in 2-3 months, 3 weeks later I’m in severe pain go to E.R I have cancer in my uterus, go to my PCP she reads to me Dr Rao tissue test stated she didn’t get enough tissue to rule out cancer. But she couldn’t mention that to me so we could try again. Now I’m in a fight for my life!!!!!!. I wasted 2-3 months with this Dr, that could have saved my life. Who does this to someone?? And why??

Wonderful doctor for older women!!!
I have been going to Dr. Rao for many years. Even though I stress each time before going to my well woman exam, she is calming and super gentle. She is sooooo good, especially if you are post-menopausal. I can't recommend her enough. She is very knowledgeable and friendly!

I went in for a well woman. The office is too warm. Dr. Rao turns on a cheap oscillating fan when she enters room because it is too warm. I heard a patient complain about charges (I should have run then) and waited over an hour to see her. She came in, talked, told me I didn't need a pap smear due to my hysterotomy. She asked questions and determined I needed an antibiotic which I did not fill, because I didn't have a problem. I have allergies and coughed because it was too hot. She ran out of room even though I explained I didn't have Covid. She ran a bone density test without labs suggesting a reason why. The nurse explained it was a part of the well woman exam. Just received a bill for $256. I called to inquire, gave all my info to the first person who turned me over to another person who asked the exact same questions. I am sure I sounded short by that time and when I answered "no" and was told I didn't need to be rude. So, end of discussion. I will not be back.

Extremely unprofessional and unpleasant. Please read comments on the doctor's website. There are many comments about being called for follow-ups so extra and additional co-pays can be collected. In my case, I was forced to overpay for services which were covered by my insurance and refusing to pay back when the insurance has paid them in full. This was an in network doctor but the staff failed to verify insurance before the appointment. There was so much back and forth to try and reaolve the issue about charges and co-pay. Staff is rude and lazy.

She is a great doctor! But Her front desk behaves with the patients so unprofessionally. Martha never talks gently with any patients and other ladies she truly screams with the patients. Every time I schedule and reschedule appointments not a single time I find out that these two ladies are in good and professional mood. I will do my procedure and stop seeing Dr Rao just because every time I go through these ladies in the front desk. Its so frustrating and disappointing!
