Dr. Myrna Ortega, MD

My wife and I had the best experience with Dr. Ortega. We used her for our last four births. We came from a very bad experience with another Dr. Dr. Ortega was very gentle and kind. She addressed all of our concerns. She really cares. We strongly recommend!!

I had a well-woman exam with Dr. Ortega, and I am horrified by her bedside manner during it. I told her before she began that I feel intense pain from physical contact with my vaginal opening; it's so bad that I can't even use tampons, much less have penetrative intercourse. She made no attempt to be gentle or comforting as she proceeded with the speculum and pap smear. I was crying out in pain, and she just kept going. Afterward, she casually remarked that my reaction was on par with someone who has experienced trauma and asked if I had. Then, while I was still lying on her exam table, tears still streaming down my face, she told me that I needed to fix my pain problem because "sex is important for a marriage" and "men/husbands need sex." I nodded along just to get the appointment over with so I could get out of there. I did not have penetration trauma before this exam, but I definitely feel traumatized now because of it. If that had been my first exam, it would have been even worse.

She prescribed me barbiturates while I was pregnant and did not tell me. She also did not take responsibility at the hospital when I delivered my baby who had to be tested for withdrawal. It was a horrible experience and she was not helpful at all

Dr. Ortega's a sweet woman but it's time 4 her 2 retire. She gave misinformation- told me there was 50% chance that I had ovarian cancer. I lived with that for 2 weeks before I saw the surgeon who looked perplexed & said chances were slim, at worst 10%. Ortega called me night before my scheduled hysterectomy & told me my blood work came back that I didn't have cancer. I told her what she told me earlier & she realized she was talking 2 the wrong patient. She gave misinformation about post-op too

Dr. Ortega is one of the best around! After suffering the loss of my second child due to negligence on the part of my specialist I was very nervous about my pregnancy. Dr. Ortega took no chances. She worked with a great team of specialists and made my experience the best one possible. I once again ruptured early but because of the proactive approach and high level of care exhibited by Dr. Ortega and her team of specialists, they enabled me to deliver a healthy baby girl who is thriving!

I saw Dr. Ortega for maternity care until 23 wks. For your first visit you see her husband. He didn't make eye contact a single time nor did he explain anything he was doing. With Dr. Ortega I always felt rushed. Apts were 5-10 min. She never once asked me how I was feeling or gave me any do's / don'ts about pregnancy. When I came in with a list of questions I was only able to ask her 2 while she was trying to leave the room before she walked out. Seemed like she didn't care about me or my baby.

Dr Ortega cared for me and delivered my baby and was great! I had some rare things pop up during my pregnancy and she was great at treating me and doing what was best. She was such a cheerleader in the labor and delivery room as well and helped me get my baby out after 20 min of pushing. I highly recommend her and will continue to see her.
