My experience with this doctor took place in the St Vincent’s Acute Care Rehab with my mother. She was suffering with 3 major system failures & would have to go through numerous procedures every few days just to stay stable. We spoke with her care team & all of us agreed that what mom really wanted was to be home w/hospice care. I was told that I had to speak w/him about it. The following day he came to my mother’s room & I attempted to bring up hospice. He raised his finger, pointed out in the hall, & walked out the door. He informed me that he NEVER discusses hospice w/someone that he feels can live 6 months or more w/proper medical care. I asked how that was going to be possible with 3 failures & when they couldn’t keep her in good shape for more than a few days at a time. He basically refused to say anything else. As a result my mom continued to go through painful treatments she didn’t want until the rehab had to send her to the ER. We finally got a dr to help us get hospice at SVI
