Dr. Monika Akula, MD

Dr. Akula was attentive and caring. She thoroughly looked over my labs and came up with a plan of action. I felt listened to and validated. She comes highly referred.

My husband began seeing Dr. Akula for a Parathyroid problem which was causing an abnormal level of calcium in his blood. It is now under control with medication, and he was not an easy person to treat. I liked Dr. Akula so much that I switched to her from my endocrinologist who was retiring. I had been seeing him for years and he had me on a medication for my diabetes that was causing yeast infections and really didn't do much to lower my blood sugar numbers. He had recently put me on a once per week injection and I was doing well, and I was questioning the need to continue with a drug that was not working well. When I explained this to Dr. Akula she promptly discontinued the medication. Dr. Akula is very kind and listens to her patients. She does not continue her patient care with previous MD recommendations but investigates what should be the proper course of treatment. Her office uses My Chart which my Primary keeps up to date. Dr. Akula is wonderful and thorough. We love her!
