Dr. Monica Gary, MD

Dr Gary is compassionate, but also speaks clearly and answers questions professionally. She always takes time at the end of a visit to make sure that all my questions are answered. Her expertise was invaluable, especially towards the end of my pregnancy, when we needed to make some decisions to protect my health and the health of my baby. We' re both doing great now because of her care. Can't recommend Dr Gary and GRWH enough!

Dr. Gary has been a fantastic and caring OBGYN who genuinely cares about your well-being, as well as your baby’s. She provides thorough and compassionate care, consistently punctual, and provides exceptional bedside manner. I am so grateful to have had her as my OBGYN and would highly recommend her for the best care.

I felt so comfortable the minute I met Dr Gary. Such a great experience and she helped me feel less nervous about my first pregnancy!

Dr. Gary delivered our two sons via c-section and had two wonderful experiences. She’s a very informative provider who makes you feel comfortable at all times. Her calming demeanor and willingness to listen are a few of the many things she does well. I recommend her to anyone asking for a new OB- she’s a keeper!

Edit- a year later it’s still so fresh in my mind, I believe I will never forget this horrible treatment and experience. I also got a second opinion and the doc told me that I will need surgery in the future to repair all the damage done due to way this doctor delivered my baby. I wouldn’t wish this on anyone, AVOID this doctor. In my opinion, she should not be allowed to practice at all!Not a great experience for a first time mom at all!I would recommend to go with a midwife or a different OBGYN.- I was fully dilated and was told I could not push and had to wait for the doctor for 45 min! Baby was already coming out on her own and I had to 'hold' her in. When the doctor got there she was surprised as to why my labor was stalled! Keep in mind I had no epidural and had to endure 45 min of contractions while waiting.- I was not allowed to push how I wanted per my birth plan to prevent tearing - had to do purple pushing on my back, hold my breath, which caused all sorts of postpartum

Dr. Gary has been my OB for 3 of my 4 children and she is hands down the best. She is so personable and walks you through every thing step by step and always answers any questions you may have no matter what it is. I also see her as my GYN as well and she’s just fantastic. So are her nurses! The best! You won’t regret choosing her.

Dr. Gary is a caring provider. She takes the time to answer questions and took time to get to know me and my concerns. She cared for me throughout my 3 pregnancies and miscarriage. I moved to a different city and tried to use a provider there for my last pregnancy but ended up switching back to Dr. Gary due to the level of care being unmatched. Worth the hour drive for me! I would recommend her and Grand Rapids Women’s Health to anyone.

No judgement with my questions for her!

I have been seeing Dr Gary for at least 7 years. I have never had such good care before. I wish she could be my PCP! She is intelligent, kind, caring, and understanding.I have had 3 babies delivered through her office and was impressed with my care through my pregnancies and deliveries. I experienced extreme postpartum depression and anxiety after my first child and she did not hesitate in helping me receive the special care that I so desperately needed. I don’t think I could have ever recovered without her guidance and compassion. I have recommended her to several friends who have all been equally happy with their experiences.

As a patient of Dr. Gary’s for nearly a decade, I have trusted her with a variety of women’s health related questions and concerns. She is a leader - knowledgeable, compassionate, and backed by a team who fiercely advocates for their patients.

Dr. Gary is direct, efficient, and knowledgeable. She listens, advocates, and communicates very well. And while I wish Dr. Gary could be my doctor for everything other specialty, I found the coordination between the office/doctors was particularly impressive when Dr. Gary couldn’t be at my appointment (ie: had to leave for someone else’s delivery).

Dr. Gary is a wonderful doctor! She makes you feel at ease and truly cares about you. She spends time answering questions and I never feel rushed out the door. I have recommended her to so many friends.

I would recommend her to anyone. She is a fantastic provider. I read some of the bad reviews and couldn’t disagree more. She’s always answered my questions and asks over and over, ok what else? She is direct and to the point and I feel like she’s very knowledgeable. She’s very professional and always explains what she’s doing but also tries to keep conversation going, knowing that sometimes appointments are awkward. I trust her very much and am so thankful she’s been my provider for 8 years.

I had a first time appointment with Dr. Gary recently. I was completely new to the clinic and they had no history on me. My entire appointment including time with the nurse and changing took less than 15 minutes. Dr. Gary did not seem to have any interest or care in my health. She said nothing to me about the very brief history I provided and gave the impression that she couldn't be bothered with me.

Dr. Gary is awesome! I feel very comfortable with her, she has a positive attitude and answers any questions/concerns I may have.

It is obvious that Dr. Gary truly cares for her patients, knows them, and advocates for them. I have not had anything but a wonderful experience.

Worst experience ever, I cried for 2 hours after my appointment with her, not only did she fat shame me, she made me feel as though I need to consider some future man that I might possibly date when I asked to have my tubes tied. It took me 6 years to have the courage to seek gynecological care again.

Dr. Gary is the best OB-GYN (she has been my provider for over 2 years)! She is sensitive to your issues and really takes the time to make you feel comfortable and get to know you as a whole person. During exams she always let you know what to expect and what you will feel. Because this is such an intimate practice, this is important. 10/10 would recommend to anyone looking for an OB/GYN.
