Not qualified to remove a patient from medications
Dr. Shafiq may be competent in the area of cardiology, but he gave us some very bad advice when my daughter was a patient at Medical City Dallas. She was admitted due to an extremely low heart rate in the 30's. His determination was that this was induced by medication changes by her PCP. He advised us to immediately stop ALL med's. We were discharged with my daughter's heart rate in the upper 30's and low 40's. One of the medications that she was taking was a select serotonin reuptake inhibitor. Abrupt interruption of taking this SSRi medication may cause significant adverse reactions. The doctor failed to give us that information and assured us that there was absolutely nothing wrong with her heart after considerable testing. On top of that he asked us to follow-up with HIS office. Why would this be necessary? Luckily, we have been able to find physicians that were able to help us with medication management. We are still waiting on the bill, which I am sure will be significant.

Excellent Doctor!
Dr. Shafiq is amazing! He truly cares about his patients. He takes time to listen to your concerns and explains different treatment options in a way you can really understand. Also his staff is very friendly and professional. If you are in search of expert cardiac care, I highly recommend him!

Worst encounter ever!
My mom and I last encounter with the staffs at this clinic was extremely toxic. The tech and front desk staff/mediocre office manager were extremely rude and unprofessional. The doctor was oblivious. It took him 2wks to send my mom's med to the pharmacy, yet no explanation for his delay. Shafiq also cause a delay in my mom's care by not sending medical clearance for her surgery.
