Poor listening, Poor treatment of Complex Migraine
Telehealth
I saw Dr. Assadi for about one year, but she was not able to help me at all. She was condescending & did not listen, so I got a new neurologist. Mitra had a preconceived idea of what she wanted to treat. She also only wanted to do video calls, not in person visits. My Story: After suffering Complex Migraine with Aura, Hemi-peligic w mod. pain, several times a year, she refused to prescribe the recommended treatments but kept prescribing contra-indicated triptans, 4 different ones! All did little to nothing. Let me tell you, vertigo w prolonged one-sided paresthesia is frightening. Her remedy was bed rest, anti-inflamatory and hydrate, then maybe a triptan. Unacceptable solution! My new Neruro. gave me a preventative tricyclic plus a CGRP inhibitor when having an episode. Staying in bed for 6 weeks is not a real solution, nor using a contra-indicated treatment for complex migraine w weeks long wide-spread numbness. She needs to take some CEUs, learn maners & learn to listen.

Cannot treat Complex Migraine w Aura – Dec 06, 2024

I was referred to neurology by multiple different doctors. I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Mitra Assadi (Christiana Care). From the moment I started talking, I could tell she was not taking me seriously. She talked down to me the entire time, calling me “sweetie.” She even went as far as to say she thinks I am “overdoing it” with the testing and that I would “probably never figure out” why I am having issues. She declined to schedule the test that I had requested. I went to see another specialist at Johns Hopkins. Completely different experience. I was listened to and taken seriously. That specialist agreed to do the testing; however it was out of network and very expensive. I regrettably went back to Dr. Assadi, told her the JH doctor is recommending the testing but is out of network and asked again if she can please do the test for me. She again told me she didn’t think my symptoms warranted testing, despite multiple other doctors saying otherwise and me having every single symptom of the diagnosis I requested testing for. She begrudgingly scheduled the test, letting me know she thinks it is a waste of time. The afternoon before my 9am test (we are now 6 months out since my original appointment), her office calls and says they need a referral from the JH doctor who requested the test because “they have to submit a form with the test and headaches don’t make sense as a reason for the test.” I replied “headaches? That’s not what I saw Dr. Assasi for - I have every symptom of xyz and I discussed that all with her.” They repeated they needed the referral (by the way, I do not need a referral for insurance purposes). I knew I wouldn’t be able to get ahold of the JH doctor AND get the referral sent within a couple of hours, so I didn’t even bother calling and I did not have the test done. I’ll just have it done at JH and pay the out of network fees rather than dealing with Dr. Assadi’s nonsense ever again. Beware. She thinks nothing of wasting your time and money and does not even TRY to help.

Terrible bedside manner
Not interested in hearing what my symptoms or experiences have been. She had an agenda and was not truly interested in helping me- the patient. She tried to convince me my symptoms were different than they actually were and acted as if I was wasting her time. She cut me off more than once and made it clear that she thought I and the other specialists I have seen in the past were all incorrect. Hopefully the residents that were shadowing her take away how NOT to practice from their time working alongside her in clinic.

Would leave zero stars
I had a terrible experience with this dr. Her front desk staff was unbelievably rude to me. It took days to get a call returned to schedule an appointment and then when I came in for it they told me they never scheduled it. The doctor told me to stop taking a medication I was on with no instructions. When I stopped it I got really sick and found out I was supposed to be tapered and took to the internet for instructions. I spoke to her and asked her why she told me to just stop taking it and she said she didn’t. I was billed $850 for an acupuncture session in her office. I could go on and on about how poorly I was treated. I’m with Jefferson Headache Center now and the difference is profound. I heard she left the practice so that’s good news.

My experience with Dr.Assadi was awful, she doesn't care her about patient, she is always in rush, and will never take a look at your medical record and previous history and jumps straight into treatments. Very unprofessional.

I had Dr. Assadi when she was at capital health. It was traumatizing. She was rude to both me and my mom, she gave terrible medical advice and was only willing to try a few things before she would blame it not working on me, she gaslight my family and she made everything significantly worse. I cannot recommend staying away from Dr. Assadi enough. She had me jump up and down with a fresh concussion and on a newly healed broken foot, she kept me on a medication I was having bad side effects on, because she didn't know what else to do, and her fingernails were sharper than the needle she injected the nerve block with into my head. Overall, terrible experience.

If I could rate less than one star, I would. She is the most paternalistic, arrogant, demeaning “doctor” I’ve ever met. She answered the questions she asked me. Repeatedly. Then prescribed medications based on HER answers. Absolutely ridiculous and negligent. She also, disrespectfully called me “honey”. Unreal that a physician doesn’t understand how to speak respectfully to patients. She completely disregarded every word I said, and came to her own conclusions, based on her opinions. She also had me do stupid human tricks, trying to disprove a diagnosis I received; if she knew anything about this particular disorder, she would know that it’s dangerous to ask patients to do such things. She listened to nothing I said, and could not hear my replies. I’ve never been experienced anything so ridiculous in my life.

Was referred to Dr. Assadi for migraine headaches. She immediately recommended an Occipital Nerve Block. This was totally unnecessary as this is a diagnostic procedure, not a treatment (and I had already being diagnosed with migraines). My confidence immediately eroded as I learned that one of her nurses suffers from migraines and that she was unable to do anything for her.
