While my daughter received adequate care immediately following her diagnosis of The 1 diabetes, Dr. Rivera Vega did not want us to continue to improve her care after she had reached an A1c of 9. She did not allow her to use a pump and would not give a clear reason why. We switched to another doctor who also did not understand why we were not able to get a pump and we're given a pump immediately. She has used the pump without issue for 4 months and now has an A1C of 6.8.
