Very thorough
I've been going to Dr Michelle Paulsen since I moved to Virginia 7 years ago. I've always found her to be very thorough with her examinations. If a condition requires follow up with a specialist, the office is very proactive with getting that set up for you. I've seen other reviews where folks talk about how rude the staff is, and I have never once felt like I was treated rudely by anybody in that office. I would definitely recommend Tidewater Family Medical to anyone looking for a doctor.

I was a patient of Dr.Paulsen for many years. She was okay for the most basic of services such as annual check-up,vaccines and renewing prescriptions twice a year.If you needed anything more than basic care you would be sent to a specialist.I was told that older patients are too complicated. As time went on she became more rude and sarcastic. She often seemed rushed and unprepared. This practice is run like a small family business and not a very happy place. I have found that their many better choices for healthcare.Beware of overcharging at checkout.

We have been going to Dr Michelle for quite a few years now and we love her. It is truly a Family Doctor's office. Most of her family works at the office in different capacities. Dr Michelle is so through and takes such good care of us. We are in our upper 70's now and she sees us every 4 months to keep us in good health..she caught a murmur in his heart and it sounded leaky. It turned out to be a leaky valve and at the catheterization, they found blocked arteries. After surgery the Dr told me that my husband had a quadruple heart bypass and a new aorta valve replacement. So this is just one of the reasons we think so highly of the Tidewater Family Medical Care and Dr Paulsen and her Dad, Dr Frank Piccioni.

I have been going to Dr Paulsen for 6 years since we moved to Va. She is efficient & her focus is preventive health. She willingly listens & allows my input into my care. I highly recommend her. I never have waited more than 10 min for her.

NOW I understand what someone else wrote about strange office practices! If you don’t mind never being able to have phone contact with the doc or a competent nurse, never having any questions answered or phone calls returned, not even a cursory discussion about normal blood results unless you return for another visit, then this doc’s for you. This office places the doctor/patient relationship at the bottom of their priorities. I wasn’t expecting it. Won’t return.

Back office staff horrible. $90 shot here, only $7.91 at Walmart. Be careful of everything they ask to do and go back a month later after research. Great Dr. but I have learned not to trust her or the office. How can you have a Dr. you don't trust? My second Dr. in 50 years. I have to fire her.

I originally started seeing Dr. Paulsen because of my elderly dad. She was and is amazing. She took care of him and me with loving care. She keeps me on my toes with her thoroughness in making sure I am up to date with the many other specialists I see. She is a Godsend. The office staff which is family for the most part and has always been friendly. They are strict with their procedures, but will work with you. It is great to have one doctor that takes care of you.

I wish I could leave negative stars. She tried to force my mom to take tests she didn’t need and had already taken previously (Liver disease) . Mom refused. So when my mom had a blood vessel bust in her eye, she forced my mom to go to a litany of doctors before she would approve the surgery. The additional time caused permenant retinal damage. They are ALL about the money. They overcharge (her sister runs the office)- even when Medicare told them they did~refused to give an old lady her $ back

Dr Paulsen is friendly and easy to talk to. I see her and my mom saw her father at the same practice. The only reason i have her four stars is because they sometimes charge fees for calling in prescriptions. Etc. they WILL. Charge you for missing an appointment they are strict about that. But they are a family run office so maybe that’s the reason? However it is worth it to have a friendly thorough doctor.

I went to this Doctor a few times after the military The nurses were very friendly which I loved. This doctor though wasn't . She rushed you through appointments and always got me mixed up with other people. I couldn't really form a relationship with a person who come out and say stuff " Before you came to me you went to a free clinic. " I found it highly offensive. They told me I had to find another doctor after requesting my medical records for the VA. So you can request records anymore.

It was absolutely awful. I made a new patient appointment and had to cancel it due to starting a new job. I called the office to cancel and reschedule. The receptionist was very rude and told me that I wasn't able to reschedule without the doctors approval. My daughter who is a patient called and ask why such strong punishment? They told my daughter they were going to reach out to me??? Never happened. If the doctor is as bad as her office staff I would strongly beware!! Awful treatment.
