Worst skin cancer care. Zero stars.
During a rushed 6-month skin cancer screening Dr. Mak Fung did not observe my legs after I asked. I’ve had prior cancers treated in my legs. The dr. did a hack job on a basal cell on my lower arm. It is not 2” as was said - it’s 4”. The treatment has limited my range of motion on my middle finger, and 6 wks post procedure the wound has not healed. Currently one end of wound remains unheralded and there is a thread with a knot protruding which invites infection and increases my scarring.

Extremely Unprofessional and always in rush
Does not give enough time to talk and is always in rush. Told me to come back for follow up for something she could have told over phone and then it was me who had repeatedly keep calling her for follow up. Rescheduled follow up appointment due to personal reasons and then refused to meet me because I was 11 mins late. Actually I was 6 mins late but was waiting in queue to check-in with receptionist. Extremely Unprofessional!!!!

She never gives up!
I have been a patient California skin institute for 20 years and Dr. Mak Fung has been my doctor for probably 10 years. She is kind, caring and listens to her patience needs. She is relentless in trying to find a solution that is attainable and acceptable by the patient. She speaks quickly, but I take it as she has so much to say she tries to get it out. She explains things very well, and her quickness is her demeanor. In another post someone said she seemed in a hurry. That’s just her energy. I am Grateful to Dr. Mak Fung for never giving up And finding a cure! And not to mention, she was financially looking out for me, and following my lead on what I was willing to do and accept. I wish more doctors listened the way she does, and didn’t just push you off to other doctors.

Thorough
Dr Mak-Fung was quick and efficient. Just very hurried and it was hard to understand exactly what she saying. Almost too much information and hard to keep up. But that being said I do think she was excellent. The nurse who worked with her "Jocelyn" went far beyond to help me. She was beyond helpful. Any question I had and doubt, Jocelyn made sure she asked the doctor and called me back with all the answers.

I can't say Dr. Mak-Fung is good or bad, because I never got to see her. After waiting over 45 minutes in the lobby as people who came in a half hour after me were called back, I went back up to the desk. They went to 'check' on the issue. They returned a full five minutes later to tell me she was with a patient and there were others already in rooms. My options were to wait an additional undetermined amount of time or reschedule. I decided to see if I could find another dermatologist with even the slightest respect for their clients. California Skin Institute and Dr. Mak-Fung clearly do not.

Dr. Michelle Mak-Fung is the absolute BEST dermatologist & saved my life! Forever grateful to find Dr. Mak-Fung after experiencing DRESS Syndrome (a rare & severe adverse reaction to a medication). She was the only doctor to correctly diagnose me (after 3 misdiagnoses & 2 hospital releases). She is brilliant, educated, experienced, compassionate, genuine, & truly goes above & beyond for her patients. I trust Dr. Mak-Fung completely and highly recommend her to anyone looking for quality care!

Visiting Dr Mak-Fung: Making an appointment is a challenge: you get put on lengthy holds by rude clerks. After a long wait for the doctor, both in the lobby and the exam room, she is rushed and unhelpful, barely answering questions. I am looking for a new dermatology group!
