Not thorough and condescending
We saw this doctor at the pediatric ER at Scottish Rite after my son had a bike accident. He was quick to dismiss, seemed unwilling to diagnose my child, and made condescending remarks. Overall, he was quite unhelpful, and we had to go elsewhere the next day for further care.

Dr Young is exceptionally rude, cold and abrasive. He is short in explaining medical situations, he does not think that parents have the right to ask questions regarding their child’s care, and definitely not allowed to raise any concerns around the plan he decides. It is his way or get another doctor in his words. Regardless to being a Dr he is just an awful person.I do not understand why he chose to work with people when he clearly lacks the social abilities and bedside manners. Now regarding working with children it is even worse. Very robotic, doesn’t say hello or smile at the child to try and comfort or ease them, treats it like a doll.Definitely does not belong in children’s healthcare.

Very helpful with excellent bedside manner
Our 14-year old daughter has severe anxiety and was caught off guard when a nurse abruptly announced she was coming in to take blood. Our daughter freaked out and it created a very difficult situation. Dr Young's demeanor calmed the situation and he did an excellent job explaining what he was doing and why so that our daughter could get the care that she needed. We appreciated his caring approach and found him to be very knowledgeable and thorough.

Negligent
This "doctor" has the smuggest attitude of any medical professional that I have ever encountered. His lack of concern and refusal to listen to me about my daughter's blood disorder, resulted in an extra 24 hours that she was immobile and in excruciating pain. It could have been fatal. He discharged my daughter with a prescription for a muscle relaxer. 24 hours later she was admitted to the PICU with multiple DVT's in both iliac veins and her IVC. The way this man spoke to me was unacceptable and completely unprofessional. I am shocked that he is allowed to treat children. Further training is definitely needed. I have filed a formal complaint against this "doctor"

Unprofessional. Not thoroughly. Rude. Made assumptions about my daughters care that were incorrect. Ultimately, after advocating for my child, he was able to make an appropriate diagnosis. However, had I not insisted on further testing/imaging I do not believe he would have treated her life threatening illness appropriately. Thankfully, I am a nurse and a mom, so I knew something wasn’t right and his original diagnosis was wrong!

The doctor we saw at the Scottish Rite ED was Dr. Michael E. Young. He was uncaring and condescending. We were sent to the ED by the AFLAC Cancer and Blood Center so that the hospital hematologist could run tests. He refused to let us speak to the hematologist, stated she does NOT have a bleeding disorder (which is incorrect) and told her she need to "learn to cope with it". Despite the fact that she was actively bleeding (almost a half a cup of blood), he never even examined her. He sent us home with a $5 bottle of nose spray. He also sent false notes to the referring physician stating that she did not bleed while in the ED.

Dr. Young is an outstanding physician who cares deeply for his patients and understands that parents can be nervous and anxious. Dr. Young listened intently to me and my husband as we explained the problem, he walked us through what to expect during the procedure, and explained our child's diagnosis in terms we understood. He was patient, knowledgeable, and kind. We highly recommend him!

I am the mother whom you told the child 3 rooms down was struggling to breath unlike my son, bc of my persistence with you despite your opinion I received the admission I was seeking & overnight observation, thanks to your fellow staff, I came to the hospital where I have always been heard with my concerns. Trusting a concerned parent helps! While I do not have the “17 years” of being a dr I have 16 years of motherhood! Whooping cough/pertussis is our diagnosis! I am grateful I was persistent!

The condescending and animosity of his attitude and speech was less than appreciated and very unprofessional. A diagnosis of “sometimes these things happen” as it relates to a respiratory problem would not be acceptable to any parent under any circumstance. I might suggest additional training for this person, whether he be a physician 20 years or 20 minutes. It would be highly recommended and might save future litigation. Perhaps this review will catch the attention of this physician. Good luck

We saw Dr. Young at the Scottish Rite ER in Atlanta. My son had sustained a closed head injury and had been diagnosed with a concussion. Dr. Young is clearly knowledgable and was able to address our concerns related to a potential skull fracture.
