Exceptional Physician
When my family first moved to Oro Valley in 2009, we selected Dr. Yim as our primary care physician. He always demonstrated a high level of care and compassion. He seeks to understand the underlying issues for health concerns, I greatly appreciate that he does not take a 'bandaid' approach to treatment. He is very easy to talk to and is willing to review all possible options and treatment paths. Work took us away from AZ from 2019 to 2024 and upon our return, we immediately selected Dr. Yim as a PCP again. Whenever we visit the office, the staff are always happy to greet us and we are seen promptly. True to form, he has been a tremendous partner in our health. My husband and I, along with my 85 year old mother are all proud to call Dr. Yim our primary care physician!

Incredibly rude, arrogant and condescending!
The most bizarre encounter with the doctor I’ve ever had in my 68 years. Someone needs to get to the bottom of his behavior.

I started seeing Dr Yim because I was feeling really bad and my previous doctor retired. He referred me to a cardiologist, and I had a stent put for my heart. I feel much much better now. I was 90% percent block in the aertery to the right side of my heart. It didn't take Dr Yim very long to get things rolling or the Doc her sent me too!Thank you Docs

Dr. Yim took time to look over my hospital records before coming in to see me and most Dr’s don’t do that. He’s a great doctor for doing that and I really appreciate that.

Office practices
I misunderstood the appointment time and arrived at 12:20 for a 12:15 appointment. I waited in line for the person in front of me to complete their questions and then stepped up to the appointment desk. The office clerk copied my insurance card and drivers license, had me sign a consent form and started gathering the paperwork for me to complete my visit. Then, someone from the back of the office came out front and told the clerk that I was more than 10 minutes late for my appointment and couldn’t be seen that today. The paperwork was dated for the prior day. I should never have been processed if they weren’t going to see me. Extremely poor communication among office staff. I’ve been seeing Dr Yim for 7 years. I won’t go back

Unfortunate encounter
I must concur with other reviewers who refer to this physician as “rude”, “arrogant”, and “pedantic”. I would add bully. He tends to intellectualize to the patient rather than relate to them. Not a good listener. Uses shaming techniques rather than motivational strategies in treatment. His talents would best be served in the medical teaching profession rather than one to one with patients. Trust building and alliance are important in the doctor/patient relationship. This sadly was not my experience. Be prepared for brusque, condescending attitude and rushed visits if you choose this physician.

Incompetent staff, condescending dr
Staff says they return calls within 24-48 hrs - they don't EVER return calls. State that they are "understaffed and swamped." I had a problem with a prescription, and they ignored my repeated urgent calls to address the issue - i was OUT of medication for a week. As a result, I got upset on the phone (it takes a LOT to get me upset), and rather than listen to and address the problem, they said that the doctor was now refusing to treat me. I was stunned at their lack of compassion and unwillingness to help me. I have NEVER dealt with such flat out rude behavior - all because I was upset that they let me go for a WEEK with no return phone call and no much needed medication. If you are looking for a physician, keep looking. Dr. Yim and his staff displayed a level of incompetency, arrogance and rudeness that I have never before encountered. I hope i can save at least 1 person from dealing with them. Please keep looking.

Shocked at incompetent Dr. and staff – Feb 02, 2023
×Post a ResponseAre you Dr. Yim?
I was having trouble with CVS changing my prescriptions, without my permission. Got an appointment to discuss with Dr Yim.( Friday)Went over prescriptions and he sent in to CVS (DAW). He was apologizing for the mess with CVS. He sent to the pharmacy my prescriptions. As of Monday CVS is still messing up one of them. I’ll call him tomorrow and see if he can move it to Fry’s pharmacy. It’s a medication I need. Dr Yim is always very helpful.

Dr. Michael Yim spent an appropriate amount of time with me on my first visit. He will be my primary care physician. He is very knowledgeable. He made me feel comfortable, listened carefully to my concerns and needs. I highly recommend him to anyone who is not happy with their primary care physician.

I did a lot of research before selecting a doctor when I moved to Oro Valley. I asked other doctor’s and read as much as I could. I have never been disappointed in Dr Yim’s competency. Dr Yim is no nonsense when he enters the room. A simple greeting. He wants exact answers to his questions. I like that very much. Once he is comfortable with his diagnosis there is time to lighten up a bit. A genuine balance between intellect and emotion. If I recommend Dr Yim as a doctor, it will mean I will have to wait longer to get an appointment. But, people need to know who is the best. I highly recommend Dr YIM to you.

I have been a patient of Dr Yim’s for more than a decade. He is attentive, knowledgeable and listens to my concerns. He is NEVER dismissive! I think some of his lower scores are related to his office staff. In the past they have been incompetent, uncaring and plain frustrating. Getting a message to Dr Yim was impossible as was trying to schedule an appointment in a reasonable tine frame. He has a new person who is doing a great job. Getting an appointment is easier and getting a call back has vastly improved! I would recommend Dr Yim!

Both my husband and I have been patients of Dr. Yim for several years and are very satisfied with his care. He listens well and is concerned with maintaining our good health. When we have had acute illnesses or injuries he has seen us promptly. When appropriate he has made excellent referrals for specialty care. We recommend him highly especially for people who take responsibility for their health and appreciate a physician who is an excellent diagnostician.

Dr Yim has started me on a chronic care program whereby a person (Maria) from his office calls me once a month to ask if I need anything like appointment scheduling, prescriptions refilled, order labs or any health problems. She is fantastic! It’s like having a checkup each month.

He does not go over your blood work. His receptionist gave my husband his blood work after we drove to the office as they would not call us back and said he was fine. That was not true. We are going to a different Doctor now just so he can over the labs. When you call the office you get a recording that states you will get a call back in 24'to 48 hours. They do not call back. Do not go to this doctor.
