I have never had a more negligent experience with a doctor in my life. Dr. West made a perfunctory examination of me. At the time, I was exhibiting visible symptoms of diabetic ketoacidosis. I ended up being admitted to the hospital for a week hours after this visit. Dr. West could not get me off his calendar quickly enough. It was on the verge of negligence.

Great doctor and office manager
Dr. West provides exceptional health care, which is why I remained with his practice when I moved from DC to Virginia.I have read some of the other reviews here, and many of them do not reflect my experiences. Ken is incredibly professional and helpful. On a number of occassions he and Dr. West have helped me outside of normal business hours with emergency refills. Additionally, I like the fact that Dr. West keeps my appointments brief; he clearly knows that his time and mine are valuable. Beyond that, Dr. West and Ken have always taken good care of me. I believe that my health is as good as it is in large part because of the professional, competent care they provide.

Dr West has unprofessional behavior going on with
This review of Dr. West's assistant, Ken, is extremely negative. Ken showed complete disregard for my request to receive my lab results before seeing the doctor, responding with hostility and refusing to convey my message. He even threatened me and behaved unprofessionally, leaving me deeply unsettled. I will be reporting his behavior.

Dr West and his assistant are very hostile ppl.
I recently had an interaction with Dr. West’s assistant, Ken, that left me rather disappointed. I politely asked if I could receive my lab results prior to my appointment with the doctor, as I am a medical geneticist and wanted to be prepared with informed questions. Unfortunately, Ken declined my request and instead suggested that I voice any concerns through the website review system. Despite my reassurance that this was merely a friendly suggestion, he responded with unnecessary hostility, raising his voice and dismissing my request. I found his behavior unprofessional and discourteous, especially considering that he serves as the primary liaison between patients and the doctor. I will be sure to report this incident, as I have recordings of our conversation, and hope for better communication in the future.Furthermore, despite my decision not to engage further after Ken’s initial call, he proceeded to leave a vindictive and offensive voicemail. In his message, he threatened that I m

Dr. West is an excellent, knowledgeable doctor who has been treating me for diabetes for almost six years. I would highly recommend him to anyone. He has a conservative approach to treating my condition and I trust his judgment.

Smug, rude and largely unhelpful
I saw Dr. West for the first time today and I won't be going back. He made disparaging comments about obese people and oddly vegetarians, he suggested that Type II diabetes is purely a matter of what you choose to eat and he seemed to know next to nothing about the thyroid and menopausal women. He also talked over me when I was trying explain a previous medical condition. Not sure who enjoys a doctor like that, but I sure don't.

This office seems to have some shady financial practices. I was threatened with collections even though my insurance company had approved payment and the confirmation was in process. Dr West insisted I pay him up front or he would charge me a "surcharge" on top of the bill and send my account to collections just because he was too impatient to wait for payment from the insurance company. Also, his office assistant is rude and Dr West has no bedside manner. Would not recommend to anyone. Waste of your time and money.

Dr. West did not ask any questions about previous conditions, family history nor he was interested in why I was seeking care. He sincerely lacked empathy and even interest in me or what I was saying. I had to ask things multiple times to get him to even look into things. He made me choose what tests I wanted to look at (????) and provided zero guidance. It was less than a 15-minute virtual consultation, but long enough to feel both frustrating and humiliating. I strongly wish I could get my time, energy, and copay back. Scheduling staff was very cordial, though. The one star goes to them.

Willfully negligent, abusive and entirely unethical medical professional. Not only does he refuse to prescribe the correct lab tests for medications he is prescribing, he uses minimal numbing agent and doesn't even wait for it to take effect-- causing severe pain during procedures. when asked politely to wait he throws a tantrum and gets abusive DURING the surgical procedure Some procedure did not implant the 12 pellets either, yet his office billed the insurance for 12 pellet implants. If he hasn't landed a malpractice lawsuit yet he is going to have one and I will be waiting to support it with full evidence.

Dr. West spent most of my visits with one hand on the door, seemed irritated by my questions, and failed to diagnose my latent autoimmune diabetes. After several frustrating appointments, I switched to a different endocrinologist who diagnosed me and immediately took me off a medication Dr. West had provided because it's contraindicated for breastfeeding mothers. Dr. West had originally treated me for gestational diabetes and knew I was breastfeeding. Avoid this doctor.

I think he is well-educated, polite and to the point. My appointments are short. He does read the lab results before coming into the room and has an idea of where to go in my health plan. I see him about 3-4 times a year to manage my diabetes, and have no plans on changing. I did see his dietitian once, which I didn't fine to be useful. We both agreed that my diet is reasonable.

Worst experience ever. I went in thinking I would have an appointment with Dr. West; nope. I had an appointment with his dietician or whatever she is. She was very nice but I don't need a dietician, I needed an endocrinologist. They do not look at test results on an optimal/functional level, bthey basically go off of whatever the lab says and don't pay attention to your symptoms and getting to the root of the symptoms. Here I am 6 months later still suffering.

His unwillingness to comply with my request to limit his treatment to the reason I was seeing him--he ordered a bunch of tests that were unrelated to my visit. Inability to provide test results any other way than by making an appointment to see the doctor. Total time actually speaking to the doctor is limited to less than 5 minutes per visit. Disrespectful office manager--excessively demanding (10 day invoices), inflexible, uncooperative, lacks a patient/customer centered office!
