Good, solid Physician with a great track record
I've been a patient since 2009. I even continued with this team when they relocated to Portsmouth from Exeter, despite having to travel twice the distance. Dr. Stevens and his staff have always been forthright and professional, answered my questions in detail and explained the nuts and bolts of my health issues in a way that's easy to understand and work with. He's a good man and a good doctor. What I really don't understand are some of these negative reviews left here in the past, except to say I guess maybe some folks are just prepared to be disappointed. My own and only minor critique might be to say he will on occasion run a tad to the conservative side with his diagnoses, but then again, I tend to do the opposite. To me that actually makes for a good balance. My body has taken some pretty serious (self-inflicted) hits in recent years, but has always bounced back with him quarterbacking the team. I plan to continue with him and his office for the foreseeable future.

My husband has been seeing Dr. Stevens for over 6 months now, and it is obvious he has no intention of assisting to diagnose my husband. My husband has been seeking a diagnosis for 3 years, and we have asked Dr. Stevens to perform various screenings the get to the bottom of the issue. Dr. Stevens has almost always refused to perform diagnostic testing. We have tried to communicate that my husband has multiple family members with similar symptoms, and that Southeast Asians are more prone to the symptoms my husband is experiencing. Dr. Stevens has disregarded his family medical history, and even questioned the existence of the family members my husband has brought up. Dr. Stevens refuses to acknowledge how my husband's ethnicity could make him prone to different health conditions. I would say that Dr. Stevens, and his whole team, is incompetent and negligent. My husband suffers everyday and Dr. Stevens has failed to complete even his most basic responsibilities as a primary care doctor.

Dr. Stevens is a competent physician but it ends there. I dreaded seeing him because I was fat shamed for years. He presumed that because I was overweight I had every disease associated with that condition despite completely normal vitals and blood work. He always seemed disgusted with me. I recently switched to a new primary care physician and she was totally puzzled as to why several boxes were checked for existing conditions that there was no evidence to support. I felt so much more at ease with the new doctor even though I was seeing her for the first time. Don't know why it took me so long to switch but so glad I did.

Visited Doctor and we discussed an issue, he gave me advice and told me to call back if it didn't work. I called the office a couple of weeks later, was given his nurse who informed me that there was no mention of our conversation in my chart; I was speechless, still am. I was told I could come back to see him (another co-pay :) ) Thoroughly disgusted with the Doctor, and the factory that is CORE Health. Always seems to have one foot out the door.
