Dr. Michael Snyder, MD

I had a consult with Dr. Snyder. He agreed so would be a good candidate for Gastic Sleeve surgery. I spent hours doing all the “homework” required for surgery; labs, x-rays, PCP clearance, 2 hour dietician course, pCP clearance. When all of this is completed I get an email from his office saying they no longer accept self Pt ptients with a BMI under 35. Here is the email O received; Hey Nicole, Dr. Snyder and the Powers that be, over at the hospital had a meeting at noon today regarding self-pay patients. The outcome is not good! The criteria now is the patient would now have to have a BMI of 35, with at least 1 co-morbidity, (sleep apnea, high blood pressure, diabetes). Your BMI is 31.62, and you have no co-morbidities, so you would not qualify. I’m so sorry, it’s out of my control. Wow! There are many other very qualified bariatric surgeons in Colorado. Go to them!

If you have any doubts, I hope this will be helpful. I recently had my 3 year followup at the Denver Center for Bariatric Surgery and continue to be impressed with the excellent staff. Dr. Snyder is an amazing surgeon. He has done may bariatric procedures but continues to see each person as unique and worthy of respect and dignity and not as another procedure. He is passionate about wanting to help people be successful with their weight loss goals. I would recommend him to any of my family members without hesitation. I felt well prepared for the surgery, but it is a journey, and the followup is just as important as I have experienced 3 years later. His program teaches the tools to continue being successful and his great staff is available for support. I live in a different state which involves extra effort on my part, but it has been the right decision for me and I have no regrets. The staff is very helpful in working with patients who are coming from a distance.

Highly recommended him.

Dr. Snyder is incredibly knowledgeable in the field of Bariatric Surgery. He takes time to actually listen to his patients because he truly cares about each individual. I would not hesitate to entrust him again. He is meticulous in the office and in his care. I wouldn't hesitate to do it again. I blew it. Unfortunately medically inactive. Back issues. Was hoping to get considered for help through assistance through the mesh implant failure in 2002 with MotleyRice but have no paperwork and wondered if you might supply old paperwork regarding the mesh used. Thank you for consideration. You were so good to me.
