He was better than nothing, but there were a number of red flags like bringing God (religion) into the conversation, telling me to change jobs rather than continue the one I love because it involved an adjustment of medication, and denying my experiences with side effects. I often felt treated as drug seeking and eventually my mental health progress halted in his care after long enough with him. His bedside manner isn't outright poor, as he presents calm and collect, but the more I opened up to him that demeanor changed to cold and dismissive. I wouldn't say my experience reflected the trauma-informed, individualized mental health care that I now seek from medical professionals, but he got me by for maybe half a year.

I think Dr. Smith is a great psychiatrist. He is real down to earth and not at all condescending. I feel comfortable talking to him and believe that he truly cares about people. He is very intelligent and I hope he will keep me as a patient for a long time! I can't answer questions re: scheduling an urgent appointment as I have never done so. I believe he spends an appropriate amount of time with me. I would highly recommend Dr. Smith to others.
