Doesn’t listen
He spent maybe 5 minutes with me. He hadn’t seen my imaging but I had my imaging report which said I had a problem. He spent the whole time saying I couldn’t have that problem (I’m too young, I have uterus, etc). Well… turns out I have it. He said after he saw my imaging that I didn’t but his two partners said I clearly do. I’ve felt the problem with my finger and so I know I have it but he wouldn’t listen

Worst Provider of My Lifetime - WARNING
Like many others have mentioned, this 'doctor' (seriously unsure how he is licensed) did not give my sister one moment to speak. He disputed INDISPUTABLE test results, spoke over her, and essentially argued with her about my condition and the details thereof. Hands down worst medical experience of my life and that is saying a lot considering if you are seeing a Colorectal specialist, things are obviously not going well. He was rude beyond measure and is a disgrace to the campus of UC Anschutz.

Visit was very short (less than 10 minutes, maybe less than 5). I had a report of imaging that said I had an enterocele. He hadn’t been able to see the imaging yet; however, he spent the time saying that I basically couldn’t have one, it was too rare, couldn’t happen with my anatomy, etc. He had already made up his mind before he even saw the imaging. He did go the extra mile when I asked him to view the image and talk to the radiologist after the appointment. However, he concluded there was no enterocele and that radiologist agreed it was unclear. Eventually, it was confirmed by two experienced specialists that I have a large enterocele, but that he is the only one that treats them. One radiologist said that he didn’t understand how McNevin couldn’t see the enterocele on the imaging. I’m not sure what happened. I appreciated his talking to the radiologist. However, I did not feel heard and like my concerns were ignored. I don’t understand how he missed something so clear.

Excellent Surgeon
Dr. Mc Nevin was recommended by the Cleveland Clinic as the top surgeon in the NW. He was very methodical in his approach to my colostomy. Not very talkative but explained what was needed and I'll take great surgeon over good talker any day.

Dr McNevin is awesome, did my surgery, explained everything and gave me realistic expectations for what to expect post op. The entire staff is really wonderful, from the front office to the surgical team everyone was professional, very pleasant and they're all great at what they do. Extra credit for Meagan, besides being a fantastic MA, she took care of all the fmla paperwork and coordinated efforts to ensure all my needs were met from the first visit right through recovery.

My experience was relatively short but in that time McNevan made medical decisions without me and wouldn't ever talk to me or return calls. He refused to remove a stitch that was causing more harm than good but informed me through his assistant that the stitch was "permanent" until I had reconstructive surgery that I had previously told him I wasn't doing. After the procedure where he put the stitch in, he never met me at discharge to talk about how things happened or what he had seen. After talking to others, I had been told that his terrible bed-side manners weren't anything new. I really should have read other reviews about this guy as the negative ones are too accurate.

I've had many surgeries and this time even though it was a very painful surgery Dr mcnevin explain the procedure thoroughly and let me know that I would be in a lot of pain. I was very reassured by his knowledge and the way he explained things. I'd definitely recommend him to my friends and family! Megan was a great asset as well! She's right on top of things.

Dr. McNevin was very professional and courteous while he was treating me for my hemorrhoids last March. I was impressed with his thorough explanations of the procedures he performed. However, I have had a recurrence of two hemorrhoids during this week of May 18-May 25. I would like to have another conversation with him about this as soon as possible. Thank you,

From the beginning my experience with Dr McNevin was very reassuring. I felt very confident that my surgery would be successful. I thought my recovery was monitored closely and that if anything were not just right it would be noticed immediately and corrected. The thistle app showed me that I wasn’t forgotten about as soon as the surgery was over and I went home.

A huge thank you to Dr McNevin and his team for their caring attentive attention to all my needs. I’m 64 and never had any surgery. His professional caring and confident demeanor sprinkled with his smile made a nervous patient comfortable. When calling his office, his Assistant Meagan was so helpful with my questions. She responded quickly and happily. Thank you so much for my care. Outstanding in sometimes a robotic health system. Again, will highly recommend this team. ????

Very happy and thankful with care received by Dr McNevin and team. It was a positive experience from start to finish considering I am not a local to Spokane and had to travel 3 hours. They gave me plenty of information and answers to questions that guided me along way. Dr McNevin has a very down to earth attitude that made me feel calm and confident. I never thought I would need major surgery at this stage of my life, thank you for what you do!

Dr. McNevin is extremely knowledgeable, direct, and no-nonsense. He is well known among the surgical nurses and staff for his skill and reliability. In all of our 9+ appointments / visits, Dr. McNevin was never (yes, NEVER) late and does his best to ensure your personal needs are met and questions answered. He is not a chatty guy, but you get top-notch service - ask him a question, and you get a clear answer. His staff is professional, courteous, respectful, and caring.

I had been treated for months by other specialists but they were treating me for the wrong thing! Dr. McNevin examined me and immediately identified the problem. He gave me my options and I went with the surgery and haven't had any problems with it since. He has a no nonsense style with no "fluff", but he was accurate in his diagnosis, gave it to me straight, and answered all of my questions. He treated me with respect and dignity.

Dr. McNevin is one of the best surgeons in this field. I read other reviews about his poor bedside manner. I did not find him to be at all lacking in this regard, but I did not go to him for a marriage proposal, I went to him for his surgical expertise, and that's what I got. He does not boast, but he DOES say he has about a 1% failure rate. I believe him. Have a list of questions for him. I do not like Spokane hospitals, they are efficient but impersonal and you get lost in the maze.

While this man may be a skilled surgeon, he lacks the empathy to assist families in managing the journey that awaits them post-surgery. Perhaps "bedside manner" is not a concern in this age of managed care, but this man appears to be tone deaf when it comes to measuring the weight of his words. I could not, in good conscience, recommend him.
