I used Dr Li before and was very satisfied. However, I recently called to make an appointment, gave them my new insurance plan information and was told I didn’t need a referral from my PCP which I was already aware of. Two days later, I receive a call from his office and they now decide I DO need a referral! I call my PCP and ask them to send one in! My PCP tried to send a referral through the on line system that his office requires. They were unable to complete this task. My PCP is now on Vacation and can’t help me! I call my insurance company and they confirm with me that my Plan doesn’t require a referral as long as the Specialist Doctor is in network. I asked him how do I explain this to my Doctor’s office? He said it’s in black & white in your Plan documents. I called Dr. Li’s office to explain this issue and they still insist I need a referral! She said she would ask her supervisor, instead she transferred me to the Billing Dept and I had the PLEASURE to speak with HELEN. SHE WAS THE RUDIST PERSON I HAVE EVER HAD TO DEAL WITH. After she argued with me for quite a while, she said I had to call Medicaid because I needed the referral from them! Not Medicare! So I asked her what time Dr. Li’s office was open until today? She answered, “I DON’T KNOW”. I said, how do you not know? She didn’t answer me! I asked again & she finally said, “he is open to his usual time”! I told her I hadn’t been to Dr Li’s office in many years, so I have no idea what his usual hours are! Again I asked her & she gave me the same response again & again. She finally broke down & told me they were open until 5 pm today! I then received 3 other separate calls from Dr Li’s office asking me if I spoke to my PCP to get the referral. I kept repeating myself to the point where I felt badgered by them! They would not listen to what I had to say, who I called & what my insurance company told me! Now someone else from his office tells me I have to call MEDICARE NOT Medicaid! I finally told them to stop calling me and to cancel my appointment! Horrible Staff. I will find another Dr!!!
