My mother has Hydrocephalus, already diagnosed by a Neurosurgeon. The Neurosurgeon moved to NY, so we went to UCLA thinking it would just continue from there. There is only ONE Neurologist you can see to get to the Neurosurgeon, and it is Mr. Ho.At least this is what I was told by UCLA.After the first time we had an appointment he said she had Parkinson's.This is what she was originally Misdiagnosed with, that and Spinal Stenosis. And, Parkinson's is a common misdiagnosis for people with Hydrocephalus. But that had sense been correctly changed to Hydrocephalus, and that Neurosurgeon showed me on the scan where the fluids were in her head. Me, not being doctor, figured the next doctor would be able to easily find it, and figure it out if given the info in advance. That was not the case. So, thinking it's because I hadn't sent that information to his office from the Neurosurgeon, I did that and made another appointment. He doubled down. and couldn't pronounce hydrocephalus.

Do not get treated by this man
This is the first medical review I have ever written. My dad has hydrocephalus. He was referred to Dr Michael G. Ho at UCLA. We have never encountered a ruder, more disengaged doctor ever. After a five day stay at UCLA with fluid being drained from his spine, my father did not feel his symptoms had improved. But that was not the issue. Both consultations post treatment were horrific. Dr Ho's language was careless and brutally insensitive. Specifically when my father told Dr Ho that he did not wish to go ahead with the shunt surgery as he thought the test drain had not been beneficial. As soon as my father started asking questions, Dr Ho showed irritation and kept telling my father to go see an Alzheimer specialist. He also said that if my father didn't get the shunt surgery he may end up in a wheel chair. On the second consultation, when my dad was trying to ask one more question, Dr Ho said he had to go and hang up the telehealth camera, leaving my dad mid sentence.

Dr. Ho has been treating my Mom for NPH for roughly 6 months. He is extremely well-trained in his field and he is a kind and compassionate doctor. We have only great things to say about Dr. Ho. He explains things to us with patience, we feel he has taken an interest in following my mother's progress and he visited her in the hospital for every procedure. He is detailed in his communication to us and to other specialists. He is talented, punctual, kind, attentive, well-organized and a human-being before all.

Video Appointment and AMG Test
I met Dr. Michael Ho over a video appointment and went over what parts of my body were concerning me (my abdominal area from a recent surgery). Dr. Ho recommended an AMG test to check if there was any nerve damage or abnormalities with my nerves in the areas that were concerning me. He set me up with another doctor to run the AMG test and I never heard from him again. Since I had discussed with him what my symptoms were and he recommended an AMG test, I expected to have a follow-up with him after the test to discuss the results. I never heard from him again, and when visiting and calling the office they said there would have to be another appointment made to go over the results which would cost extra. Wasn’t satisfied by the way I was treated by the staff, whomever was answering their phone calls, and the communication through the MyChart app.

Didn’t show concern incorrect summary
Unfortunately this is the first Dr at UCLA we were not happy with. We have always felt confident in the care we received until Dr Ho. He seemed scattered . When he first started going over my husbands info he realized he was in the wrong room. We were there so tremors concerned it was Parkinson’s. He said it’s not a big concern even his dad has Parkinson's. He didn’t explain differences in tremors and said to video his tremor after we explained exactly what happens. In reading his after visit summary there were number errors. The most important error was saying his tremor was when doing something, we specially said it’s when he’s resting. We will not be returning to Dr Ho.

Dr. Ho is a wonderful and brilliant Neurologist. He was able to identify unique aspects of my 10 year plus aspects of my seizure disorder that no other neurologist had. He spent a lot of time with me, explained everything in perfectly understandable language. Because of him I had a second neuro-surgery that cured my seizure disorder. He has a wonderful personal manner. He spent a lot of time with me during the whole process. I would recommend him to anyone with a seizure disorder.

Dr. Ho barely spent 10 minutes with me on his exam and did not pay attention to my symptoms, which I both TOLD him about and WROTE down for him. He talked over me when I attempted to correct him so he could understand. After my visit, I got a copy of his report and confirmed that he had written down the incorrect symptoms. Completely frustrating and wasted visit. Unless you have a disease with VERY obvious and simple signs, don't trust this doctor.
