Dr Hallberg is a wonderful doctor. Incredibly thoughtful and thorough.

I've seen Dr. Hallberg for years and cannot speak highly enough of him. He's incredible, thorough, thoughtful, and creative. His sessions seem longer than other psychiatrists; he listens to what is going on and gives advice, not just meds. His notes must be excellent because we only see each other every couple of months and yet he follows up on the smallest detail of my concerns from last time. I leave his sessions feeling heard, confident in my medications, and generally uplifted. He's the best!

Dr. Hallberg is very attentive and interested in his patients. He remembers little details about my life and situations, and he was very kind and thorough when he did my original diagnosis about a year ago. he doesn’t rely on a prescription but he does take all things into consideration before choosing to prescribe, at least he did for me. and when we did agree to try some medication, he started me very low dose and we’ve kept the same dose since then. i LOVE Dr. Hallberg and would recommend him to anyone struggling with whether or not they need a physiatric diagnosis

Some of these reviews are perplexing. After a number mediocre experiences with psychiatrists, I was referred to Dr. Hallberg. He came highly recommended and it was immediately obvious why. He wasn't only thorough and informative, but he was incredibly personable and added a human element often missing from psychiatric specialists. He's extremely knowledgeable and unlike many doctors, irrespective of their focus, he took time -- and continues to take time -- to understand my situation and make informed decisions based on my lifestyle and experiences. Being put in touch with Dr. Hallberg was a life changer, and I'm grateful he's my doctor.

DO NOT see. I saw Dr. Hallberg for almost 2 years, really trying to trust the process of getting help- I suffer from depression due to toxic work environments and childhood neglect, but otherwise am a normal, functioning human being. This was the worst experience of my life. I wish I could report him. I almost died from serotonin overdose due to the medication he prescribed. After gaining 50lbs (from 125lb), I'm now completely desperate for proper care. When I told him I had seizures as a side effect and I was scared and just wanted relief, he told me it would take about a month to see him. He also put me on a mood stabilizer that caused me to be almost comatose in demeanor, in which he claimed, I was more likable. He asked way too many questions about my sex life. This guy is a creep and unprofessional. I got my notes before I left, it's all about sex.

I would not recommend Dr. Hallberg. On my first visit he put me amphetamines. Too large of a dose of amphetamines. I emailed him to let him know the dose was too high, I haven't slept in 5 days, he dismissed me. I fired him on the spot. His attitude is that of a punk. Find another Dr. there are plenty out there that are better than this.

I went to see Dr. Hallberg to have my medications reviewed. On the first visit, he placed me on too large of a dose of amphetamines. I reached out to him twice to let him know I was having trouble, had not slept in 5 days, and he dismissed me. He offered no suggestions on how to move forward. He blew me off. Stay away from this guy. I will not go back.

I saw Dr. Hallberg for 3+ years while living in Chicago for anxiety. He was extremely smart and took the time to fully understand my concerns and my personality before providing his expert opinion. Would highly recommend.

Recommended by my therapist. He was focused on my personal experience and suggested several treatment options. I've been impressed with his knowledge of medicine and life.

After years of different therapists, I started working with Dr. Hallberg. I have found my time with him to be eye-opening. He pushes me beyond my comfort limits, and makes me confront my issues, which are things I needed to do. He doesn't coddle and he will call you out on your BS, but for me, his straight forward approach and the way he works with you to set goals and realistic results has been very rewarding. I look forward to every visit.

I would not recommend to family or friends because Dr. Hallberg is brusque and harsh with people's feelings as if the fault of depression and anxiety lie in its entirety in the individual and their bad maladaptive behaviors. He doesn't seem to acknowledge progress and trivializes individual experience to the point of being arrogant.
