Dr. Gootee was an excellent surgeon. He made us feel so comfortable before my daughter went into surgery and gave a great consult afterwards. I was very pleased with not only him, but his staff as well. They made a very challenging day go as well as possible.

I wish I could tell you about my visit. I never saw him. Saw the PA, said My kid needs surgery. They will call to schedule. They called and it is in JANUARY! I said that is too long to wait. They said they can’t do nothing about it. I asked to speak to the doctor who will do surgery. They said I do not get to meet him till the day of surgery. This is the stupidest thing I have ever heard.

Very good. After a bad experience w/ a doc in Springfield, we went to Dr. Gootee. Mind you, this was in 2002-2003. He was wonderful, met w/ us, explained everything, answered our questions & our 7 year old's questions too. He made us all feel at ease. The day of the surgery, he did the tubes AND adenoids in 7 minutes! The tubes lasted 2 years! (The Springfield doc was awful, took much longer and one tube was out in 2 weeks! grr) After surgery, Dr. Gootee talked with us, was great at re-visits, and even took care of him 7 years later for impacted eardrums. All our experiences with him were great. I was surprised reading some of the comments above, I hope he hasn't changed - seems to me most of the bad comments were about his pa, or that people weren't able to see him. :( Maybe they are overscheduling him these days because I recommended him to too many people! Please note that I'm posting this now because it's the first time I've seen this rating thing for docs.

If I could give them zero stars I would. I love Dr. Gootee, but his PA is horrible. 8 ear infections in 6 months on my 13 month old and they won't do a darn thing for him. She tried to tell me at anytime his tubes will mature, um no lady not till he is a little older. So for the next 4-5 years I'll be dealing with him getting ear infections everytime he gets a head cold. It's bad when you know more about medical than the "specialist". Give me a break!

Canceled my son’s surgery (which had been scheduled 8 weeks in advance) with 3 days notice. Because he discovered my son was actually high risk, and required admittance rather than an outpatient procedure. Why was his not determined at the initial consultation? On top of that, Office staff were completely unsympathetic and lacking basic communication techniques. Attempted to reschedule 6 months from date surgery should have been performed. Will find another ENT who has more time for his patients

My son had chronic strep throat and was referred to Dr. Gootee for an adenotonsillectomy. He was very friendly and personable at the consult and made our son feel at ease. The day of surgery, he met with us pre-op and answered all our questions. He also met with us post-op to explain how the surgery went. Would definitely recommend!

My high-school aged daughter arrived at her appointment 15 minutes early as they requested. She waited 55 minutes PAST her appointment time before she was called back. Dr Gootee spent less than 4 minutes with her and did not order the audiogram that was the reason she went. 35 minutes travel time one-way, 15 minutes early, 55 minutes past appointment.... for 3 minutes of doctor's time. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS DOCTOR.
