Avoid ENT institute if you have a deviated septum
Dr Friedman charged a hilarious amount of money for a nasal endoscopy that lasted literally less than 8 seconds. He also diagnosed me with sleep apnea with an unconfirmed sleep study and despite being obviously stressed and worried about my septum, which he said was 'one of the worst he could remember' he offered very little in the way of bedside manner or an explanation of any of my health issues commensurate to my worry. I don't trust this practice and his energy is that of someone who is mentally checked out and looking to pad their retirement savings. He may treat other conditions well, but don't come here with a deviated septum.

Extremely unresponsive office
I have been having problems with how Chicago ENT bills. My last bill was for significantly more than I was quoted. There is a phone number on the bill to call if you have questions. Problem is, they do not answer the phone. After being on hold for a while I was asked to leave a name and number and someone would call me back. Four days later and no one has called me back. I’ve also emailed the office three times now asking for billing assistance. All have gone unanswered. If you want a medical office with transparency and is responsive, look elsewhere.

Very pleasant and caring
I've already seen 2 other doctors before seeing Dr. Friedman so I knew my issue already but didn't feel comfortable with either one. Upon seeing Dr. Friedman, I immediately felt a warm connection and felt at ease with him. He did recommend a surgery, but I already knew that. I'll definitely let him perform the surgery on me!

Expect to spend a lot
If you visit Dr. F. Expect to spend a lot of money on tests that you may or may not need. He will not recommend any lifestyle changes or more conservative treatment plans; he goes straight to ordering lots of tests. At one point, I found that he had accidentally (I hope) copied and pasted part of another patients record into mine; the patient history was completely different and listed meds I had never been on. My mistake was being too nervous to advocate for myself and the push back on the deluge of tests, some of which I knew weren’t necessary. Over 8 visits later, Dr. F sent me to an actual expert in my specific issue, who had me on meds and other noninvasive treatment in only 1 visit.

He really rushed the visit and seemed to be more interested in moving on and rather than tuning in to my medical issue. Fortunately, I found a better ENT.

Very deficient doctor
This doctor refuses to spend much time with patients -- treading them like things on an assembly line. And as a result, he can fail to make a good diagnosis of their problems. I had issues that he was unable to resolve -- forcing me to go to a different, much better doctor.

He's often on the sell -- trying to get you to do this procedure or participate in this study, without making a clear case for them. And he's inconsistent in his diagnoses. He does not like when you ask questions can be brusque with patients.

Better more patient friendly doctors out there – Dec 13, 2022
×Post a ResponseAre you Dr. Friedman?
Terrible
I filled out the form to request an appointment for my son, which included his birthday. I received an email acknowledging the request and then a second email accepting the appointment request. I also received numerous appointment reminds. When my husband and son showed up at the appointment, they were immediately told that Dr. Friedman didn’t take patients under 18. They knew my son’s age, agreed to the appointmen, sent numerous remainders, only to have him show up and be sent away. Thats just messed up.

Love Dr. Friedman
Dr. Friedman is fabulous! I was diagnosed with Adler apnea about two months ago and was on the search for answers. I met Dr. Friedman and he did a scan of my nose and sinus area. I took the at home sleep apnea test with the mask and he concluded I did indeed have sleep apnea. I came into the office and Dr. Friedman presented me with a few options to cure the issue. I asked him what is the most permanent and what would give me the results that I was looking for. He made sure I understood all my options and the treatment plans that went with them. In the end we decided on a sleep apnea rhinoplasty. I got my procedure a week and a half ago and I can already see such great results. I'm breathing better-NOT snoring- and I am only half way through my recovery time. AMAZING! I will go back one more time for a second check up to make sure everything looks good. I am so thankful for finding Dr. Friedman. Nobody likes to get any surgery or procedures done, but to have a Doctor that cares and has

I am very confident that Dr. Friedman will give me the best possible care. He's knowledgeable and experienced, and is patient and kind. I find him reassuring and and SO pleased that he'll be doing my surgery early in 2022. I have a bit of trouble with the Sleep Study facility he works through, though I don't think it's entirely their fault. I think Advocate's Home Health Equipment division has managed to foul up my orders for a CPAP machine, but I've had to keep after everyone in order to get any kind of traction.
