Dr. Choi has been a “family doctor” for a long time. I wish I knew where he was practicing.

Dr. Choi is one of 53 specialists at MGH that I was randomly assigned to by my PCP's association with MGH for a GI issue. While academically impressive and confident, Dr. Choi seems to have more interest in academics and research than working well with patients. He listened to my history of issues, and seemed excited about the endoscopy procedure. After that expensive endoscopy, I got an old-fashioned letter from him that suggested I may have a rare disease, but I was not provided with clear guidance as to how to treat the disease. I have since switched to a GI doctor at Tufts Medical who enjoys working with patients, allergies, food intolerances, and is motivated to treat patient health issues.

I don't know why Dr. Choi has received negative reviews. He has been my gastroenterologist for many years and I find him to be thorough, detailed, thoughtful and kind. I have had endoscopy and colonoscopy procedures. His diagnoses have been correct and his treatment sound. He is very approachable and collaborative. I have recommended him to friends who have found him equally qualified.
